So, does this mean if you preorder the game, you get the dlc costume and bonus stage even if you just get the standard addition? Or is it all in the collector's edition only?

Collector's edition only, though they'll probably be released separately later.

What a shame that it's apparently a Square Enix Online store exclusive. With this and JoJo for Namco is this the future of niche games?
Either way I'm going to get this, it's just easier for me to get things at retail.
The English voice acting...well can't really so much other then I hate the dragon, but I hate the Dragon's voice in Japanese. The dub sounds standard and fine from the voice clips.
Eh, can't say I'm excited based on all the import impressions. The pathetic technical issues, the mediocre sounding story, the fact that it's a prequel, and so on leave me rather cold on a game I've wanted since Drakengard 2 ended with potential for something pretty awesome. I was excited when Nier was coming out, because it was Cavia with Square again and that could've meant a Drakengard 3. Then when that game's connections became apparent I got even more excited. But Nier was rather terrible and then Cavia died and my hope with it. Then somehow Drakengard 3 was announced, but as a prequel and with a stupid looking lead. Oh and it looked like crap. Apparently it also runs like crap. I wonder if we would have just been better off not having a third game.

I've already pre-ordered a couple of days ago. I've wanted it from the first moment I saw its Japanese trailer. Hadn't planned to get it at launch until collector's edition so I went for it. Considering Digital River thing happened last year about this time, I don't have too high of hopes that I'll get it (they better not screw up).

And if you liked the ending to the original Drakengard, you'll [expletive] love this one.
Seriously, this is probably the most Japanese video game I'd ever seen.

This is one of the things where they charge you when you pre-order right?

Yes; that's why I'll be pissed if they (Digital River) screw something up like they did with Ni no Kuni for Namco.

Really? Because I just checked and despite pre-ordering on Wednesday, I haven't been charged.

Shame that the physical and CE is only available in SE store instead of Amazon or retails...

To each his own, but there is a reason why that game has a cult following - the music and story and alone sold me on that game. Super glad the team that made Nier mostly got together again and made Drakengard 3.

People keep saying it's the Nier team. How? It's not Cavia. It's really just Yoko Taro and Keiichi Okabe. The producer and character designer aren't the same(they worked on the previous 2 Drakengards) and it's developed by Access Games who are quite bad honestly. When they say it's by the Nier team they really just mean Yoko Taro. Unfourtanly, I was a fan of Drakengard well before Nier came out and now Nier's complete involvement in the Drakengard story has really taken it's toll. I don't really care that it's a cult game, I don't get it. But now what should have been a game about the war with the gods has become something where we have to fit in Nier and all this alternate timeline stuff. It annoys me because honestly Nier was nowhere near as interesting as the places Drakengard 1 went. You didn't get dark and interesting characters like Caim and Arioch. You got a very annoying girl who just cursed and was completely unpleasant because she's sad. Plus real unsubtle storytelling of "LOOK YOU"RE THE BAD GUY. THE VILLAIN IS JUST LIKE YOU". Caim couldn't even talk in Drakengard. His character development and writing are so much better then anything in Nier. It was never in my face about how morally grey this dude is and his arc of caring for Angelus did not have arrows pointed at it like almost everything in Nier. Even Nier's great reveal hardly touched the emotional impact of Drakengard 2's first ending. Hell, it seems more like Drakengard 2 is the black sheep thanks to Yoko and these bandwagon fans. 2's a good game and in some ways better then 1. There's no reason it shouldn't be followed up on and ignored.

Aw man oh man. I haven't expressed much more than strong curiosity in checking it out and maybe even buying when $50 was more casually laying about. That curiosity is probable more related to its relationship to Nier, which I've only heard largely good things about. But those pre-order extras.... ooh la la, not to mention that LIMITED EDITION set. Might Drakengard 3 be something to blind-buy, and the $80+ set at that?

Nier didn't have a good or bad guy. That was part of the point of the ending. Both sides had the same goal, it just happened that because the main party didn't have all the facts, the end result was worse for the world. They aren't the bad guys any more than the good guys. You get to know and love the party, so you may root for them at first, but if the focus was on the bad guy, he might be the audience's good guy.
Yeah, maybe the party was mushier than Drakengard, but I thought that added to its charm. I liked all of the characters in the game, and how the party members grew close over the course of the game and treated each other like family.
Regarding Drakengard...the mission where you go around
murdering child soldiers while they cry for mercy wasn't about showing how morally gray/black the main character was? Really? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what's so much more interesting about a dude who lives to kill things and a cannibalistic elf. Their backstories are pretty interesting, but can you really say the side characters developed? Caim went from hating everything but his sister to hating everything but his sister and dragon. Progress! I mean, a protagonist like that is a nice change, I guess, but it gets boring to play as a character I don't support or like in any way.
Now, i do think that Drakengard is interesting, for the same reasons I find Evangelion interesting. It's a major piece that the director put a lot of himself into. It's a cult classic. I also think it's hilarious how much it seems to despise the player. I just don't think it's as good as you do, clearly.
Anyway, I've preordered Drakengard 3. Not a fan of the obnoxious blood splatters all over the screen when you kill enemies, but it seems like it'll be an interesting ride.
