Are they trying to say he's doing poorly?

Wow that is a surprise to me that they have done this.

Maybe now it will actually be funny.

This is rather interesting... I found the show to be hilarious. In fact, imo, funnier than Azumanga Daioh, which everyone is comparing it to.
I wonder how this will affect the actual production of the series... |

I'm glad. The dialogue and jokes made had me laughing but the way they were executing have left me complaining more than once. I'm not actually sure what the job entails and what will be changed now but I'm glad that something is being changed.

They're not changing the source material - if you didn't find it funny before, you still won't. It seems a little harsh to be so blunt about giving him the chop, but like Amasa I'm hoping that there'll be some improvement now. |

Well just looking at what they have done in the past, I'd say this is a turn for the better.

Well at least I am not the only one who found the starting episodes lacking.
I hope with a new director, Episode 4 and beyond will show improvements. |

This behaviour is quite atypical for a Japanese company. Performance issues may very well be the reason for Yamamoto's ouster given to the public, but I would be willing to bet that some sort of internal office faux pas is at the heart of the matter. Perhaps Yamamoto did not respond well to criticism and insulted or embarrassed someone higher up in the KyoAni food chain?

Hooray, maybe now the show won't be painfully unfunny. Maybe it'll even gain some of Fumoffu's comedic gold.
From what I saw of the show, it was a good idea with terrible execution. |

I've only seen the first episode myself but I didn't think a whole lot of it. Probably still won't continue but here's hoping it improves for all watchers.

There are a lot of poeple who are complaining that the show is not funny. Infact some of my friends insist that Azu is far better.
Personally I find Lucky Star better then Azumanga so far, Azu was always a terribly slow experiance for me, with only a few good episodes in it. And imo The poeple who say Azu is better, only think that becouse all they currently remember of the show are the actual funny parts out of the 26 episodes, where as LS has only had 3-4 episodes so far. Though I will admit that the show is not living up to the hype it was getting. I really wonder how much the new director is going to effect the show. |
