There are 4 different versions of Densha Otoko. There's a "seinen" one, aimed at older men, a second seinen one, a "shonen" one aimed at younger men, and a "shojo" one aimed at young women.

Since there is no known specific author, the old copyright problems don't come into play, therefore there can be so many versions of the same story published by different publishers in Japan.

BTW, why not link the news flash to the correct manga, Zac?

edit
well after I posted this I looked and saw it linked differntly now so I am assuming that means that there are 2 coming over now

Why do that when you can buy into the new pathetic otaku craze? I really don't think Del Rey has any intention to get into alt./progressive manga. All the properties from Afternoon they've released (Genshiken, Love Roma) have been strictly mainstream, and their "mature" line so far has nothing but softcore porn and gore-fests.

Yes! I've always wondered what the shoujo version was like since no one had ever scanlated it.

Most overdone story in history. Even Orange Range has done a music video about it.

The TV shows is cute, but all these remakes are totally unnecessary. Why can't people just keep things short? I mean, Calvin and Hobbes was canceled years ago, but people still love it because the creator cut it off when he ran out of funny ideas, and it still remains fresh and funny in everyone's memories. Why does something good have to go on forever until it's boring and has lost its purpose like new episodes of Spongebob Squarepants?

Well Love Roma wasn't anything near mainstream, I didn't really think it would get licensed. Genshiken at least had the anime to make it that bit more popular; but I've been left out in the cold with idle hope after those.
Even if it's mainstream, there's still a lot better stuff you can license from Kodansha in stead of giving the masses what they want. But it's understandable I suppose, Del Rey is still a company 'on the grow'; I just hope that in due time, the market will ripen, and they'll aid in that by giving the people stuff to open their eyes that there's more to manga than fanservice or Densha Otoko (especially the last is a trend I'm really getting more and more appalled by).

"Why can't Americans have only one late night chat show?" The reason is that the Japanese can't get enough of it. It's a "real-life" fairy story, and the Japanese love that kind of thing. All this stuff is meant to be consumed by the Japanese market, and the international market is a bonus.

How about those infinite amount of horror movie remakes? If the consumers like it, money comes quickly.

Maybe not in terms of art, but the humor reminds me of standard gag strips with a warm romance woven through the gags. I wouldn't be suprised if they picked up something like Mushishi, but that's probobly an exception because of the anime (prove me wrong Del Rey). I really disapointed that they chose Basilisk and Suzuka to head their mature label because if you take away the graphic content (violence for Basikisk, fanservice for Suzuka) and they're essentially shonen titles.

Probobly not, but I'll be he's the most ambiguously gay otaku ever.
