I agree! I'm very glad I'm not the only anime fan who feels this way. I'm waiting in apprehension for the scandalized fan outburst when Howl loses.

There's always a chance, I guess, but I wouldn't bet any sum of money that Howl's Moving Castle will beat Wallace and Gromit.
Howl was more of a lovely mess than a great film. The film had issues throughout and the third act simply fell apart in flight, but it still managed to be more entertaining than whatever Dreamworks farted out this year.
But a lovely mess isn't enough when you're competing with the likes of a Pixar or an Aardman for the award. That's all there is to it.

One of the best Flake of the Week question in a while. Actually I wasn't even sure if it was a question and more like a comment.
If people want to know if something is license or not, check the encyclopedia. If people want to know if a series will be license or not, I don't think ANN can predict the future like Mrs. Cleo.

I think I preferred Howl To Were-Rabbit; but that's possibly because the comparisons to their immediate predecessors (Spirited Away and A Close Shave) seemed to be more unfavourable in Aardman's case.
Even as a big Ghibli fanboi, I wouldn't mind seeing Nick Park get a 4th Oscar to make up for A Grand Day Out

How would ANN know? They're not psychic either

Wow, that's a pretty varied company. That letter is almost like e-mail tourette's. I must know, what does an elegant footstool look like?

Quote: | In all seriousness, this would be a silly time to run Win Answerman's Stuff, simply because I assume people are far too busy lighting menorahs, festooning poultry, opening socks or pouring brandy into their eggnog to come up with hilarious captions |
That's a surprise. I would have thought there would have been plenty of hilarious captions because of all the brandy laced eggnog. Hmmm. Well,They would have at least been interesting. Anyway, Happy Festivities!

Zac doesn't want to admit that he ate Menchi due to his spousal fight with Mrs. Answerman over who had better answering quips to stupid questions and he got thrown to the curb for a fortnight.

I was kind of disappointed in the bunny photo. My choice would have been Miss May 1972, Deanna Baker. Hotcha!

Why, elegant, of course! I wonder why when ever I see a rabbit I think of onion sauce.

Quote: | fans were absolutely livid at the last two episodes of the TV series; apparently rapid-fire crayon drawings and sped-up recap clips don't really constitute a proper ending to the show! |
That was the movie ending, as I understand it. The tv series ending had no crayon drawings, and very little recaps to speak of.
