Now how is this for an Otakon anniversary year??!! Here's hoping I'll be able to get in (assuming the crowd).

I'm somewhat underwhelmed still. A few big name dub/sub actors and a couple of premieres. This doesn't feel different than most any other year at Otakon.
I'm still trying to figure out what prompted the Christina Vee return (she's virtually a perennial guest there) but yet not a Cassandra Lee return when Cassandra Lee is in a new major title (SAO) and Vee is in a whole lotta nothin new. Since Funimation hasn't somehow managed to get a dub up for this Eva 3.33 screening I don't see the point in going as it is nothing that can't already be seen. Not to mention that Otakon's large video room is far from ideal (though I believe this to be more the fault of the BCC). |

I guess so fans will have the theatrical experience. It's kind of like when theaters used to do rereleases on films that were already on video. |

Otakon is advertising their Rurouni Kenshin screening as "the first official screening of the film on the East Coast," but the New York Asian Film Festival already screened it twice this month: http://subwaycinema.com/nyaff13/rurouni-kenshin/

I still haven't seen the 2nd Eva movie
As for Kenshin fantastic film. I saw it on the plane last December on my way to Japan. Probably other things I will want to do more than watch it again. |
