Well, you know... CN plays anime, and stuff.. *shrug*

But how can they mention Cercy-Warner and not mention The Cosby Show or Roseanne? Pfft..

Uhh... CN is a television channel, not an anime distributor. They show some anime, but showing anime is not the primary raison d'être of the channel. Ergo, when they're looking to hire for executive positions, they'll look for people within the television industry, not the anime distribution industry, since they want candidates with a lot of experience in the same industry they're in, not people from an entirely different industry that deals with cartoons in a different capacity.

And CN/AS already serves anime fans very well. I doubt you'll ever see a day when they show much more anime than they already do, since anime is reasonably popular but not popular enough to warrant taking away timeslots currently occupied by CN/AS originals and reruns of Fox prime-time cartoons.

I think the reason why they mentioned That 70s Show instead of The Cosby Show or Roseanne is that James Anderson probably wasn't yet at Casey-Werner when the latter two shows were in production. (If people my age who remember these shows back when they were new want to feel real old, The Cosby Show premiered 21 years ago this month, and Roseanne, 17 years ago.)

Stop using Generalizations....Stop using Generalizations.....

Okay, I have no idea how my comments spawned such misinformation. I would think better of my fellow man. Guess I was wrong.

They could do better. Add a little variety. Spice it up.

What do we get? ...........Ah, let someone else moan about it, not my place to do it.

What "generalizations"? What "misinformation"? What I said is the straight truth: CN hires people from within the television industry who already know what they'd be doing in the day-to-day operations of running a television cable channel. What sorts of programming they dealt with before coming to CN is largely irrelevant as it's the experience within television that's important. It's not much of a generalization to suggest that most people from within the anime industry would fare poorly if they were placed within an executive position at CN, not because of lack of competence at the job they did before but rather simply because of a lack of relevant experience (and, also, "contacts") within the television industry. It's only a generalization in the sense that a self-evident statement like "Most airline pilots would make poor neurosurgeons." is a generalization.

Having people who would be competent in the position for which they were hired benefits all viewers of CN.

CN already has a commendable variety of anime shows. Yes, there are plenty of types of anime that they don't show, but the simple truth is that CN/AS only shows those anime that they think will attract a large audience from the demographics they covet for any given timeslot. Most other sorts of anime would be "ratings suicide" for CN to show.

Whaddya mean, spice it up? I'm guessing you want them to show stuff like yaoi and hentai in addition to the action and sci-fi stuff. Rolling Eyes

What do we get? ...........Ah, let someone else moan about it, not my place to do it.

What do we get? Awesome anime.

And the only reason you don't want to continue moaning about it is because you know everyone will oppose you, like I am.

So where exactly in my post did I say that CN was an anime distributor? My comment was that would this VP actually be a good pull for Anime as well by asking ANIME DISTRIBUTORS (ADV, Geneon, FUNimation, etc.) to showcase more work?

As of now, I think the lineup is great, but they really need to replace Cowboy Bebop with something new. I'm finding myself picking up both Samurai Champloo and S-CRY-ed just on the showings on CN alone. I'll admit this much: I passed on S-CRY-ed as another throwaway anime, now i'm finding that I like it.

Don't bother, just ignore everything he posts, since he is basically a corporate fluffer-girl. Complete troll.

That's not quite what I meant, it was just that you seemed to be implying that hiring James Anderson would not be a positive thing for anime fans as though his lack of familiarity with anime invalidates him for the position, so I pointed out that CN is a television channel and not an anime distributor to make the point that it has no special obligation to anime fans to hire only people "in the know".

Anyway, he's handling public relations, so, whether or not he knows much of anything about anime specifically, it's not like he'd have any actual input on the programmes that CN/AS acquires, anime or otherwise. He's just there to handle the press releases and to make the channel look good to investors and advertisers.

How about you shut the hell up, you filthy liar? Corporate fluffer-girl troll. Yeah, right. You don't even know my gender, so shut your damn mouth. I'm not some troll who goes around posting spam. Maybe I disagree with what people say, but that's how it goes. I'm not going around posting leet speak and terrible grammar that has nothing to do with the topic; I'm just a bit extreme in my views. You need to learn to deal with it and stop dismissing everyone you don't like as trolls.

And posting inside the quotes is easier than having to type out the quote tags a bunch of times. It shouldn't matter, anyway.
