Man, this is so disheartening to hear... Wish the best of his family and friends. Sad to see someone go the way of heart attack.
I do want to point out that Medame had ONE other voice actor, which was Kazuo Kumakura. He voiced him in several games of the games.

Sad to hear. His voice of Medama was truly iconic. It's gonna be hard to replace him

Being one of the ONLY American Kitarou fans, this is dissappointing to hear.
Aside from those video games, I think he was the only VA to play Medama-Oyaji in each anime (as well as the live-action movies), which is why I was glad that Hakaba Kitarou used the almighty Masako Nozawa, as well as Chikao Ohtsuka.
Too bad that anime will probably not get licensed, despite that the live-action movie did (which is probably only known by people who know the anime).

He was also the voice of Shojo the monkey like man from One Piece and did the voice of one of the Ninku Men from Ranma 1/2.
But yes, it is a tragic way to die from a heart attack. May he rest in peace. As I really enjoy hearing him as Shojo during the Jaya Arc of One Piece.
