I know everyone loves the card game, but am I the only one that thought YGO was better before the card game took over? While it was a little formulaic, Yami challenging enemies to different games gave the series more variety. I liked the idea of Yami being a psycho that either psychologically screws with his enemies or even flat-out killing them. It's kind of like how in the early Detective Comics, Batman was more brutal to his enemies until executive meddling force the creators to tone him down.
I think the biggest question I had about YGO is how it would have gone on if the card game didn't take over. Maybe Kazuki Takahashi should do an AU manga detailing his original plan for the series. |
