haha Awesome was the first thought that came to mind when I saw this. Kinda cool to see a little shout-out to Miyazaki movies.

Well, uh, goody goody for you, but what do your plans have to do with anything?
As for the trailer, that is really cute. The first two Toy Story movies had lots of amusing references to other cartoons, movies and pop-culture. It looks like they are sticking with what made the first two cute and funny. (Also reflects the friendship of Miyazaki and Lassiter as well)

Does this mean we'll finally get official U.S. releases of Totoro plushies?

didn't Disney essentially force them to make this movie? i like Pixar, but i really have doubts about this one.

Now something with a Miyazaki character has a chance of winning an award again.

Well, hopefully is more then just that cameo up there. And honestly, even if it isn't a great Pixar movie, its hard to at least not like them.

This film has a particularly tortured history. Back before Disney bought Pixar (and then handed them creative control over their entire animation division), they owned the rights to make a Toy Story sequel without Pixar's direct involvement. So they started working on a direct-to-video sequel that was reportedly pretty awful. Lasseter got wind of this and during the Pixar sale negotiations, Lasseter basically said "We'll make Toy Story 3 but you have to let us do it our way and scrap that DTV project". So they did. They spent years figuring out the story; this is no less a legit Pixar production than any of their other films. Frankly the trailers look great to me.
A brief reminder that Toy Story 2 was originally planned to be a direct-to-video sequel but got bumped up to a full theatrical production once they realized how good it was going to be. So I have faith.

I'm still pretty bummed they had to make it without the original Slinky Dog voice (Jim Varney, RIP). Granted, they didn't have much of a choice since they HAD to make a third movie, but I really hate it when the actors change. And, I suppose you could say that Slinky Dog wasn't an essential character and it's not as bad as, say, Tim Allen not coming back, but still... Slinky Dog! I loved Slinky Dog when I was little.
