It took me several scans of the article to find out what it's name was.

'To'...just plain 'To'....

Still, the website looked awesome so hey, I'm looking forward to this.

I enjoyed the manga and the original anime. I also like Sori, just saw Ichi and that was pretty good, while Vexille was great.

This should be worth a watch.

Awesome news. I have all three volumes of the Viz manga. Think I should re-read it.

Looks cool. I didn't care for Appleseed, but I love stories about space exploration/travel.

Is the Manga pretty good?

edit: I can't seem to find any listing for the manga on VIZ's website. But I'm checking out the OVA ASAP, cause it seems like its right up my alley.

The manga is OOP. Volume one even had a hardcover edition. Flipped art. Wonder if Viz will reprint it now that one of the stories will be animated.

Wow, this has me really excited. I loved the manga. Don't let the name fool you. While the first 5th of the story is very closely related to 2001: A Space Odyssey (the manga's inspiration), from that point forth it really begins to tell it own story and takes it through some very unique twists and surprises. Though I doubt many modern anime fans have either seen the movie or its concurrent book, so I doubt that should be much of an issue anyway. spoiler[Also, even though they are short stories, they are told in a way that makes them related to each other.] (<--semi-weak spoiler)

This should be a great anime. My only concern is time. Is this only going to be a single film? I hope it is long and they don't leave anything out. Anime hyper

The Japanese website is a candidate for Engrish.com or FAIL Blog. Laughing

Does this mean that, unlike what I'd be lead to believe by my past experience with short story compilations, there is a strong emphasis on storytelling in the source material? If so it sounds quite solid; something tells me the visuals will be sumptuous. A must for good sci-fi these days, I suppose.

I admit, given the quote I am unsure of what source material you are talking about. But yes I can assure you there is a story to tell (I think it would be alright for you to look at my spoiler since this seems to be ending up as a single, hopefully long film).

And I rather like the art as well (left to right, not in sequential order), which is more realistic and less anime-y. Not that anime style is bad or anything, just it really would serve no purpose given the serious story and mostly realistic science fiction.

The story sounds interesting, but the past work with Appleseed, and especially Vexille, isn't exactly filling me with confidence.
