If you enjoy the Ninja Scroll movies, there is a Ninja Scroll series that has been released. Though, movie wise I'd say "X" is a good movie. =D Or it might of been called X 1999, not too sure anymore. x_X I could always double check, as well the Cowboy Bebop movie is decent, not as violent as such movies like Ninja Scroll.

Seems to me that you like Sci-Fi. Spriggan - Won the 2001 (or 2000) Sci-Fi movie award. Very much like Akira. It's an OVA and there are no TV episodes. Naruto - You can't have more Ninjas in an anime, the big 3 in Japan. Berserk - Violence and death Jo Jo's Adventure - Famed old anime, if you can find it that is. Violence and more Sci-Fi. A masterpiece. _______________________ My Animes |

Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuioku-hen should be close to what you're looking for. I would suggest you actually watch The TV series, first, but if you don't mind being dissapointed in terms of continuity, then by all means, watch the OAV.
And though I know you're looking for movies, I'd highly recommend you check out the TV series Berserk sometime as well. A super violent storyline taking place in a fitting medieval era. Great story, excellent character development, and a small, but masterful musical score by Susumu Hirasawa. Last edited by Tony K. on Tue Dec 14, 2004 11:25 pm; edited 1 time in total |

If it's violence you’re looking for I strongly suggest the Devilman OAV. It is the most horrifyingly, horrifying thing I have ever seen in my entire life. It’s tough to find but it’s really worth it, it’s just a total orgasm of violence and really good Japanese metal music. I remembered I showed it to some of my non-anime-watching friends, I told them "it's scary shit man" (we we’re 12 or 13 at the time) and of course they were skeptical and joking but as soon as the first scene ensued they shut their mouths and didn’t utter another word till the end. Seriously get it, it puts ninja scroll to shame.

Not necessarily Ninja flicks but I'd recomend Cowboy Bebop: The Movie or Spriggan.

If it's a movie you want, what about KITE, theres some violence for ya, theres also Grappler Baki, it's not warry long, but good, theres also another one, and thats Boah, but don't expect much from the storie, it's just sensless violence, but sometimes thats a good thing
BUT!!! you really have to see BESERK, even tho you said you only wanted films! I have seen the hole series 7 times now, and I still think its GREAT, and it has the best theme music EVER!!! you simply MUST see it.....!!! Another series thats great, is wolf's Rain, one of the best new series I have seen in a long time...... PS: about that Ninja Scroll series. It's pretty good, but it's no way near as good as the movie, And the voice acting could be ALOT better, but if you are a Real fan of the movie, you like it none the less, or you'll simply hate it from the bottom of your SOUL...... well, thats just what I think!!! |

You can try the Escaflowne movie but since you don't like mecha or robots I'm not sure how u react to that.
If you like fantasy anime I recommend the Slayers movies. I don't know if anyone has mention it or not but if you like vampires make sure you watch Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust movie and OVA. |

Violence ehh, you should check out the Samurai X: Rurouni Kenshin movies Trust & Betrayal, and Reflection. Personaly I think the director's cut for Trust & Betrayal is the best version. So if at all possibly watch that one. As for violence, it's rated 17+ in the US. The fight scenes are great and there is a lot of blood!

I disagree with you on that. The Director's Cut is not a good version at all because of continuity problems. You can see more of my opinion in this thread . And though it is quite violent, just saying it's bloody is a miniscule very miniscule reason to watch this. The story, music, and overall presentation make this one of the best titles ever in all of anime. I mean, just look at the ratings. I cannot say enough of how wonderful this title is. And as an avid Kenshin fan, I strongly recommend you watch this subbed. Nothing ruins a good anime more than bad dubbing, and I guarantee you'll like this if you do watch it in Japanese. It is a true masterpiece of art. |
