MyAnimeList and Honeyfeed Open Writing Contest 'Novelous Worlds' Powered by Shogakukan

TOKYO - February 11, 2025 - MyAnimeList (MAL) and Honeyfeed (HF) proudly announce the opening of “MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 - NOVELOUS Worlds.” This collaboration aims to spotlight talented international web novel authors by bringing their stories to NOVELOUS, a light novel reader app launched this January by the renowned Japanese publisher, Shogakukan. Anime enthusiasts are invited to craft captivating tales inspired by two prompts: “Love Transcends Boundaries” and “The End is Now.” Centered on themes of love and death, the contest seeks page-turning stories that will ignite the imaginations of new readers on the NOVELOUS platform.

The NOVELOUS app promises to bridge the gap between global audiences and the beloved Japanese storytelling format of light novels.

To celebrate its launch, NOVELOUS has partnered with MyAnimeList and Honeyfeed to bring fresh, original talent into the spotlight. Through "MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 - NOVELOUS Worlds," authors from around the world are invited to showcase their creativity, with a chance to have their works featured on the app.

The contest challenges writers to craft compelling stories based on one of two prompts:
● “Love Transcends Boundaries:” Explore the power of love to overcome cultural barriers and obstacles, highlighting bonds that defy the odds.
● “The End is Now:” Dive into a world on the brink of destruction, where humanity has only one year left—how will people respond to the ultimate countdown?

How it works:

Submissions will be hosted on Honeyfeed, a platform for aspiring novelists, from February 11, 2025, to May 7, 2025. After the submission period, a panel of judges will select finalists, and fans worldwide will participate in the voting phase, from June 23 to July 24, 2025, on NOVELOUS. Winning stories will be announced on August 4, 2025.
