A question about Madoka Magica was about the potential of exploring the story of some of the witches who were once magical girls. "When I wrote the script, I didn't have any of the witches' back stories. It was actually the designer who designed how they look and came up with their back stories. For the upcoming movie, it was actually that designer that brought me up to speed with their back stories."

Is talking about Aoki Ume, the mangaka for Hidamari Sketch?

wow, that's pretty leap. I dropped Blassreiter after a couple episodes. I suppose I should go finish it...

Nope, he's talking about Gekidan Inu Curry, as they were the ones that designed everything witch-related.

I wonder if there were any Saya no Uta related questions.

I found his comment about VN length (and about being padded to "justify" cost) interesting, because plot-wise Saya no Uta didn't feel padded at all to me. Compared to Fate/Stay Night which is like "Padding and Filler, the Visual Novel!" it was very different in that regard. I thought Saya no Uta was kind of a perfect length for its story. Haven't read any other VNs by Urobuchi so I don't know how his others compare and how wordy they are.

Just a lot of "I really liked Saya no Uta"s.

The impression I got when he / his translator said this wasn't that he was quitting anime in two years, but that for the next two years he would be anime-focused.

I recently read Kikokugai the Digital Slayer which he wrote as well and it was basically the same length as Saya no Uta. It also had no choices in it.

D: wha no? This means he's going back to just writing games now? That would be so disappointing. Crying or Very sad

Might have to check into that one. Saya no Uta did have a few choices, though. Two story branching choices if I recall. spoiler[One takes you to early, but arguably not *bad*, end with MC in jail, or continues the story, ]and then one later near the end that... I forget how the second branched, actually.

Sounds to me like this means what it says. That at least his next two years of work schedule are booked with anime projects. After that, who knows? Maybe more anime, maybe more games.

Word of warning if you do read it. Watch out for the beginning since right at the start is a spoiler[rape scene and they happen pretty much throughout the whole game lol.... I found the game to be just as dark as Saya no Uta].

This was also my impression and I was there. I felt he was saying he was tied up in anime projects for at least the next 2 years, but he doesn't have any specific plans after that.

Of course what I heard was funneled through a translator.
