Oh I didn't know that. I heard among my group of friends and parts of the internet that it's disliked. Wikipedia says it was received positively though and its ratings across the net are solid. As for myself I had to adjust but it didn't click and I dropped it at some point. I just want them to make it more like the GITS I'm used to.

I am ecstatic beyond words!!! For me the Stand Alone Complex series is the best iteration in the GITS franchise and the greatest sci-fi series after the first Full Metal Alchemist series so seeing Kenji Kamiyama return for a new GITS work seems like something out of a dream. Now if they would announce Yoko Kanno as the music composer I would be the happiest fanboy ever although the fact that Origa is no longer with us and won't be contributing any new music makes me really really sad
Also, all the recent Tachikoma-related news make sense now.

More GITS in Anime form is always welcome in book especially the kind that doesn't hold anything back and really makes you think.

Finally, a GITS adaptation that I'm actually looking forward too. Not gonna waste $13 for a lukewarm North American adaptation (I will give Arise a second chance) and now that SAC director Kenji is returning, hopefully its either a TV series or film.

it took a 60% adaptation of gITs (hollywood's) for peopel to start apreciating a 90% one (arise)

yeah, undertandable MMI with white washed motoko will be fun and they can try new things with motoko's daughter.

I guess they're trying to get the whitewash aftertaste out of their mouths.

Looks like the "good enough" Hollywood live action movie paid off.

Holy Awesome!! I thought Kamiyama was more expressing unfounded optimism rather than anything more concrete back a few months ago, but based on this, there could very well be more SAC. I'm 100% down for any GitS with him involved though. He definitely gets the correct balance as far as I'm concerned, compared to every other adaptation.

The question is, who's going to write it? Is Dai Sato coming on board? Yoshiki Sakurai? I also hope they add somebody like Keiko Nobumoto or Sayo Yamamoto.to the staff to some capacity.

Best news of the year.
Aramaki's involvement has me mindful (can we just keep him to mechanical designs?), but in Kamiyama I trust. Everything GITS-related he's done thus far has been gold.

Eh, no to more SAC, we've already gotten enough of that, nothing more to add to it. Hope they go with a new direction.
