I really don't like it. It's entire execution is more toned down and "Hollywood-ized" than I think even Hollywood is capable of. Not to mention that trying to turn a comic that is so inherently serialized into a story spanning 90 minutes is just a bad idea. The entire thing is a novelty at best.

Since it takes the best chapters and arranges them in an order that flows well, I would say that the anime is still the best version of the series in any medium. Why has nobody licensed it yet?

I haven't seen the movie but I love the manga. I'm glad there is more live-action stuff being licensed Smile Can't wait to see it!

Finally! When they licensed 20CB back a year or so ago, I was sure they'd pick up DMC at the same time... but they didn't.

I really laughed my way through this whole movie. DMC is a comedy. You aren't supposed to take it seriously. You laugh at the jokes, you laugh at the awkward/bad acting... it all adds to the comedy.

Can't wait to pick this up and add beside my manga volumes Very Happy

I kind of really enjoyed the movie. It's only good if you've read the series, so, I'll prolly be buying this Smile

I just hope they didn't lose an arm and a leg over the music rights.

I wish they would just release the anime of DMC instead. Not interested in the live action film in the slightest.

Brilliant. I'm surprised it took them so long to get it. Personally I find the film is better than the anime, they cut out some of the tiresome material and boil it down to the nitty-gritty, Negishi/Krauser's personality conflict, and leads up to the duel with Jack Ill Dark.

Ken'ichi Matsuyama plays the roles of Negishi and Krauser perfectly.

It's one of the best live-action versions of manga/anime that I've ever seen.

Dop: I'm guessing it took so long because Gene and Marty are probably not cheap, even for cameos.

Now if only Viz would release it on bluray, or at least give it a decent dvd release, since all their other asian films have gotten half-assed releases you can only buy online.

It was only released on DVD in Japan, so I doubt we'll get a BD.

(Plus, even if it did, 20CB didn't get a US BD release, so I doubt anything else from their Pictures line will either -- though Death Note is (but that is in a category of its own))

The 20CB DVDs weren't bad :S

Now let's see them pick up BECK in the coming months and I'll be a happy lad.

Yes! Truly one of the funniest films from Japan in a long time. I'm so glad it's getting released in America.

Now let's hope the OVA gets a release ASAP.
