Hi...
I'm dropping by this site to see which anime or manga to watch by popular vote etc.. But after looking at all these top rated, most popular vote etc in Encyclopedia.. But I don't see One Piece in any of the category?????? How could this be possible? I'm sure it may not be the world best anime/manga in the world to all. But I'm sure it is the best to most. How come it doesn't make it to any of the list?? How does all these votings works anw? I'm starting to doubt the voting system, without seeing One Piece in it. Isn't One Piece the most popular Manga in Japan Atm? |

You have to keep in mind that the rankings are merely reflections of the opinions of the user base on ANN, not of Japan or anywhere else.

You can get this by clicking on the "details" link in the "User rankings" line. As for your doubt in the rankings, it's going to be same situation on every site that you visit. They are going to skewered according to the biases of the people that bother to sign up and vote. You can read this thread to see how it works. |

To add on to what's already been said...
Everyone has their own opinions. That's what they base their vote off of. You might like One Piece, but others (myself included) think it's a piece of crap. And peoples' votes reflect opinions. |

Because wikki was referring to this site as a rating reference to one of animation i loved. So I thought this is the site that have most people come and rate.
Well, people would only know to love One Piece if they read the Manga... Instead of watching the animation first. Animation got too much crap fillers... Those that watch it the first time wouldn't know that its just filler... They got bored and stopped before they reached Water 7.. However the storyline still flows, original and unpredictable. Unlike Naruto. Its so messy at the moment. Such a let down from such great first season. I wouldn't say One Piece is the best if Its just me that loving it. 10/10 of my group of friends are loving it. |

Again, that's your group of friends. Among my group of friends, I am the only person who managed to make it past volume 1 (yes, I read the manga first. 4 volumes of the manga, and up through the end of the Arlong arc in the anime). I hate it even more now than I did when I started.

Regarding Japan:
Actually, OP is the 3rd most watched anime currently airing in Japan. And in poll's of Japan's favorite all-time anime, One Piece rarely places in the top 10. SO even in Japan, OP is clearly not the "best anime/manga to most." Regarding ANN: The people voting on ANN are, for the most part, not Japanese, and don't have the same tastes as Japanese fans. One Piece has consistently proven to be much less popular outside of Japan. One Piece is still highly regarded by our readers (very good to excellent), but there are other shows that our readers clearly feel are better. Finally, ANN's list is of course 1) an "all-time" list, and 2) a "quality" list. By "quality" I mean, we ask people to rate anime in terms of quality, not in terms of their "favorite." While younger people tend to equate the two, adults will recognize that there's a difference between "this show is a masterpiece" and "this is my favorite show." I've rated shows I don't even like as "masterpiece." Most of my favorite shows I've only rated as "good" to "excellent." Regarding your Friends: You may be familiar with the expression "like attracts like." Your friends are probably the same age as you, and have similar tastes. So its no surprise that they like the same anime as you. ANN's readers come from all sorts of backgrounds (many are clearly older than you), and have more varied tastes. Hope this helps a bit. |

Top 10 which is most likely composed of completed anime. I'm not sure whether I'd actually put One Piece on a top 10 list (considering its length and quality: average episode quality), but we shouldn't forget that it's still in the halfway mark, and catching up to its best selling manga volumes. So, I'd say it's still a bit too early to actually throw it in a sea full of sharks. |

Problem with One Piece is its.. unsual art style... A skinny nobody joker being the main character?? and he's like invincible already... as it seems... Just turned me off just after the first 10 episode. But luckily I was so bored and nothing else to watch during that time so I watched on.. Able to get the story theme. And being caught by its unique and unpredictable storyline. Arlong arc is just the build up. Please try read it pass Water 7 Arc. It is so emotional!!! So addictive. After that you would still think its not the best but I'm confident to say at least u won't regret reading it.
The most watched based on the airing time would be affect too much by which type of audience would be free to watch the animation at that airing time. Adults like us mostly don't have the time to catch the airing time everyday. But One Piece is most sold out manga in Japan isn't it? Being 2nd and 3rd on airing where it is free to watch. But being top when people have to buy it with money... Shouldn't that reflect more? Yeah I like your argument about "like attracts like" So I don't go out and expect One Piece to be Number 1 everywhere, was just very shocked that it didn't make top 10 in All voting category. |
