Odd... I've never heard of an "International Version."
As far as I was aware, the only OP was Oasis's "Falling Down."

International and Original, that probably means Japan covered Oasis song and wrote their own version of it.

I'm glad to see that Eden of the East will be getting the full release with everything intact. Just as the anime gods intended. And I think this "international version" will be like what they did with Speed Grapher when they couldn't get Girls on Film by Duran Duran. What Funi did was just took a song from the OST and used that as the new opening.

Or that the international version is an instrumental or another song that is timed to the opening animation.
We need more info on which track has the international version and which track has the original song imo.

Well, since Oasis is a pretty famous band, it must be hard to get the license for one of their songs as the theme song, even if it was covered by the Japanese too, so that's a nice thing Funi did there.

They're doing it because prob a lot of fans of the series won't buy the series if the Oasis song is missing. It's a wise business move imo.

Yeah, this had to be incredibly expensive and difficult. No doubt the "international version" of the OP (I don't think anyone's seen it yet, so who knows what that is) was made in anticipation of whoever licensed the show not being able to get those music rights from Sony BMG. So I would consider this an upset.
Make no mistake, Funi seriously went to bat for this one.

I've never seen Eden of the East, is it something I'd enjoy?

Do you enjoy streaking?
Do you enjoy romance stories?
Do you enjoy memory-loss-driven storyline?
Do you like the band Oasis?
If you have answered positive to one of the questions, the answer is YES!

Excellent news. I don't even like Oasis (third rate Rutles parodists that they are), but I still can't imagine the opening titles of Eden of the East with a different song. It wouldn't be the same.

So glad to hear this. Thank you so much for the hard work and willingness, FUNi!

This went through my head as well, and I'm sure this is at least 85% of the reason, but yeah... Still need to give them a big thank you until I can give them a financial "thank you" buy buying the DVDs. (Although I probably would have bought them even without the song retained... And cringed every time I heard the replacement opening.)

Let's just hope that fans match FUNimation's hard work by spending up large on the show. I mean, there's no point for licensing companies to listen to fans and give them what they want if the fans then don't go out and reward the licensors with high sales. Some fans were basically saying that if the song was changed then they wouldn't buy it; those same fans now have no moral excuse but to fork out.
Helping matters for this case at least is the fact that Eden of the East is a pretty good and popular show in the first place. So it isn't like FUNimation spent a lot of time and money on a show which no-one liked and which wasn't any good, and then turned around and demanded high sales from fans.

Great news.
Now if they can get a Blu-ray version out the SAME time as the DVD set, while also handling all those phone signs (which are vitally important) then I'll be handing my money over without a care in the world.
