I'm still confused by the revitalized popularity of Yugioh in USA. 4Kids even decided to start re-airing Duel Monsters instead of 5D's (which was shifted to Cartoon Network).
I still like Yugioh, but not Yugioh GX and Yugioh R

New Naruto volume comes out, and as expected, skyrockets the list. One Piece has faded into obscurity, but that's probably due to the lack of support from the "fans" it garners in the web community. Yu-Gi-Oh! has always been successful via the card game and with new young Monthly US Jump readers alike.

The fans did nothing but moan then when viz listens to them they don't support.

Thus hence my emphasis on "fans". Very few people are supporting the releases and its pretty sad. It might have much to do with the economy, but purchasing a volume or two certainly would help.

I don't mean to pile on the One Piece fans, but One Piece is the series I use when I want to debunk the myth that fansubs are this huge marketing boon which can lead to huge sales in America.
In America One Piece is the third most popular manga, has this huge dedicated fandom that dwarfs other fandoms like Fullmetal Alchemist and Negima, and the series doesn't sell anywhere as well as either.

Negima maybe, but Full Metal Alchemist? Hahahahahahhahahah.
No way One Piece is more popular than FMA in the USA.
And since the Negima anime adaptations range from horrible to mediocre, of course the manga will be more popular. Not to mention that other than a few OVAs here and there, none of the newer stuff will probably ever be animated fully, which of course is not the case with One Piece.
