Interesting. I hope that some of these titles make it over to the U.S. Specially sequels (strike witches for example coming out in march in North America).

It's all going to be badly-written anti-shounen moe-crap for the hardliner otaku.
At the very least; let me make that clear before the decision's made to throw me out permanently.

It looks like a rather poor winter season is going to extend into a rather poor year at this rate. At least it'll give me more time to catch up on the backlog.

half the companies are vague and of course all mentioned are all bishojo related, as it is from a magazine with that focus.
I wonder if that focus should be noted in the news article title?

No change there then. If moe wank fodder still delivers the readies. Can you blame them?

I have to agree that this is pretty darn depressing. Those shows are all the same!! Kind of makes me wonder if this year will finally be the saturation point for these kinds of clones.
I have hope for the Aniplex announcements, maybe we will see something a little different from them.

Is everyone really surprised that Megami Magazine is promoting series filled with young pretty girls?
This just in:
Fangoria has news about the next Rob Zombie movies yet seems oddly apathetic about what Nora Emphron is doing next.

I just want to thank everyone who's making this news negative. You guys keep reminding me of how much I despise my own fandom.

This is the kind of news I like to read. It provides insight into the plans of the companies involved. A little detective work from here can shed light on what might be coming our way in the future.
Unfortunately, I think the major problem still lies in the distribution channel from East to West. Meaning, by the time it arrives in the U.S. it is already too late to be profitable unless it is a major franchise.
The Japanese need to do a better job of making it easier to buy/rent content from Japan. They either need to establish a satellite network on one of the major carriers or they need to make it simplier and easier to understand (in english) content in Japan.
Or...the alternative will continue to prevail. There is a nice middle ground that can be achieved. Right now...that is not happening, and it is harming all involved.

I originally read this and felt really depressed at the clear signs that moe wasn't dying down anytime soon, until I read what magazine this was published in.
So yeah, don't mind me if my moe-hating self doesn't get too worried at this announcement. Besides, I quite like Sora no Woto so I'm looking forward to the rest of those anime in the Anime no Chikara timeslot

The announcement of seven shows in the same niche is a sign of a stagnant market. That is alarming. They are marketing these shows to the same buyers, and due to over saturation that market is likely to shrink over time, not grow.

I hope the sequels Aniplex announced involve more Kannagi (quite likely) and Kamichu! (not as likely).
I'm hoping for less dating-sim-based harem moé anime this year and more slice-of-life moé anime or slice-of-life-with-a-fantasy-twist moé anime.

So hypothetically, if there exist some Japanese bishounen-themed magazine and a bunch of companies announced around a same number of fangirl-fodder TV series for 2010, are we going to get the same bothersome reaction of "too many" bishounen shows?
