Capcom and Webtoon Entertainment Team Up to Expand the Monster Hunter™ Universe with a New Monster Hunter Wilds™ Fan Contest

Los Angeles, Calif. (January 17, 2025) – WEBTOON Entertainment Inc., a leading global entertainment company and home to some of the world's largest storytelling platforms, and CAPCOM Co., Ltd., a leading worldwide developer, publisher, and distributor of interactive entertainment for game consoles, PCs, and handheld and wireless devices, are teaming up for a new contest that lets fans bring the Monster Hunter™ universe to webcomics. Launching today, the Monster Hunter Wilds™ contest lets creators reimagine the world and characters of Monster Hunter, with 12 prize packs for exceptional webcomics submissions.

The Monster Hunter Wilds contest is the first of its kind in WEBTOON's new Branded Contest program, which connects WEBTOON creators and fans with exciting contests from official brand partners.

To participate in the Monster Hunter Wilds contest, US-based creators can submit an original webcomic to WEBTOON's English-language platform based on one of three prompts inspired by the Monster Hunter universe. Prompts can be found on the WEBTOON Branded Contest profile under the Monster Hunter Webcomic Contest series.

Entries are due by Feb. 19, after which entries will be evaluated by a team of judges from WEBTOON Entertainment and CAPCOM. Finalists will be announced on Feb. 24, with winners revealed on Feb. 28.

The Monster Hunter Wilds prize breakdown includes:

· Grand Prize Winner (3): Monster Hunter Wilds merchandise kit, Yian Kut Ku Plush, and digital code for new Monster Hunter Wilds video game, launching on Feb. 28

· Runner Up Winners (9): Yian Kut Ku Plush and digital code for new Monster Hunter Wilds video game, launching on Feb. 28

WEBTOON creators all over the world have redefined fandom and visual storytelling for Gen Z readers. With so many incredible creators on WEBTOON, this contest is the perfect chance for up-and-coming talent to engage with CAPCOM's iconic IP and introduce their work to new audiences on our platform,” said Christine Yoo, Director of WEBTOON Brand Partnerships. “CAPCOM is behind some of the most renowned franchises in video games, and we can't wait to see what fans create through this contest to celebrate and reimagine the legendary Monster Hunter universe.”

“We're thrilled to collaborate with WEBTOON Entertainment to bring the rich world of Monster Hunter to a new creative format,” said Tak Inoue, Head of Marketing at CAPCOM, USA. “This contest is an exciting opportunity for fans to showcase their creativity and passion for the Monster Hunter universe, and we can't wait to see how they reimagine its iconic characters and lore.”

The Monster Hunter video game franchise has become a global phenomenon since releasing its first game in 2004. The franchise has been adapted across multiple formats, including a feature film, and CAPCOM's upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds game – nominated for “Most Anticipated Game” at this year's Game Awards – will launch on Feb. 28.

The Monster Hunter Wilds contest sets the stage for WEBTOON's Branded Contest program, offering creators new ways to engage with globally recognized brands while showcasing their talent on the platform.
