Why disassemble it at all? It should be a permanent fixture.

Well, I'm just glad they made it so it can be disassembled and not demolished. Maybe they'll find a better place for it that would be safer from typhoons.

Or it could go on tour Cool

LEAVE IT UP! LEAVE IT UP! I say they hold a referendum on whether to leave it up or not.

I guess we'll see soon enough if gundams can withstand nature (typhoon). If it does, leave it up I say!

The statue was built and it was already placed, it's not like you have to pay to see it, so why take it down? They won't gain or lose anything one way or the other, keep the general public happy and otaku tourists too.

I heard that it was going to go on a tour around the country.
I hope that it does or they put it up permanently somewhere. I want to see it!

If IOC awards Tokyo the hosting privileges for the 2016 Summer Olympics about a month from now, all the more reason for Tokyo to leave it up. C'mon...a life sized Gundam has Michael Phelps' and Usain Bolt's awesomeness combined and multiplied by 20! All it's gonna do is continue to attract otaku tourists...that can't be bad for Japan's economy.

Seconded. Do want. Really do want. I wonder how much space would need to be cleared out in Millennium Park or Navy Pier (or somewhere on the lakefront) so Chicago can give a traveling mecha a temporary home?

Taking it apart I think is necessary yet cruel. All the king's horses and men couldn't put a Gundam back together but Japan can.

Put it up in Tokyo Bay, like a Japanese Statue of Liberty. Smile

It's to bad about the closing ceremony. But, its really great that the number of people that came to see it over the 2 months is so much higher then what the planners expected.
