I would own an iphone, but I didn't want to leave Sprint. I have an Instinct, and have been very satisfied so far.

I have a 30GB iPod and a Macbook, but I do not own nor do I want an iPhone. Why does Apple want to know if we do? Watching anime on small devices is terrible.

I use a cellphone to call people.
I may also use it to receive calls from said people.
Why?
Because it is a phone.
And that is what a phone does.
That is all.

I stay away from overpriced Apple products starting with a lowercase 'i' or any of their products really.
My phone is a pretty old Nokia brick. My mp3 player is some $10 chinese mp3 player. Both of these do what I want them to and I saved a lot of money. Call me thrifty, but saving money is good.

Yes I do own an iPhone (1.0)
I use it as an iPod, browsing the internet, texting, and of course *gasp* as a phone.
As for watching videos. It's quite ok. I like the quality the iPhone has for videos. (that is if you got the video off of iTunes)

Same here. I have a couple pictures of my dogs, but I most use my cell phone to call and receive calls.

It's made in China. Do they even make cellphones in the U.S. these days?

I don't think so. Most gadgets and electronics are mostly made in China

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't own a cell phone, I think they're a sign of self-importance. There's no call I need to make that can't wait until I get home from wherever. My words aren't so great that a person can't wait to hear them, and neither are yours.
I may end up buying one in the future for emergency purposes only, but until I do, I don't see the need for one, certainly not one as expensive as an Iphone. It's triviality to the nth degree.

A lot of us use cell phones because it's much cheaper to have a cell phone than to have a home phone.

If it weren't so expensive, I would totally own one.

Nope.
I have a very basic Motorola cellphone with a simple black-on-grey LCD dot matrix display which I haven't even used since 2004, when I moved to Ottawa. (It still has a Montreal phone number which I presume is inactive now.)
Luddite that I am, if I ever needed to start using a cellphone again, I'd probably just find a way to get an Ottawa number on the bare-bones phone that I already have.
EDIT: I also don't have an iPod (or any other portable digital media device), since, like I said before, I'm a Luddite and am only interested in buying all my music and video on old-fashioned physical media like CD's and DVD's/BluRay's.
