I'm glad I haven't lost the ability to accurately predict which characters in various Gundam series eat particle beam by the at least the third episode in.

Yeah, Lockon Stratos' death was a little predictable. Just for the fact that he was a somewhat normal and relatabel character (more so than the other Gundam pilots).

I, for one, feel that Code Geass is the true successor to the Gundam franchise.

I could agree and disagree with this statement. I agree because of the large scale success that Code Geass is having. And the fact that there are whispers about turning it into a full on franchise. But I disagree for the fact that they are quite different. Gundam is a much more hardcore mecha series, while Code Geass is more like a series that just so happens to have mecha in it.

Well, these last 4 episodes were by far the best of 00. But is it just me or did Sci-fi cut out spoiler[ a big chunk of the episode when the HRL attacked the Thrones' base? They said later on that they had destroyed their base, but I don't remember seeing that.]

spoiler[Actually, they didn't. Even the Japanese broadcast doesn't show the UN destroying the Thrones' base[/spolier]]

I could say that about a couple Gundam spin-offs in the past decade or so.

SciFi totally dropped the ball with the epilogue! That was the most exciting part of the whole episode. I remember being incredibly excited the first time I saw it, and it sucks that the people watching it on SciFi only got to see it squeezed to the side, without sound, and sped up...and why?? Because we had to be reminded that Dead Space is out on DVD!!

I had a feeling Sci-Fi was going to cheese out on the credits/epilogue. Then again, it was possible even CN might've, had it aired there. Viewers missed out on 00bama, Mistaa Bushidooouuu, and the bit about the 00 Gundam.

Wow, I'd forgotten how gripping the ending was. Though Graham's declaration of love makes me chuckle.

I knew I missed something good! The whole time the credits were rolling I was wondering what the heck I was missing. I am surprised Scifi thought it wouldn't bother people. That, or they didn't screen the episode to know the end credits were important. Either way I'm surprised!

All-in-all it was a good conclusion to season 1, with the exception of the battle between Graham and Setsuna. It was ok, but with the build up in previous episodes I was expecting a more epic fight. But on the bright side, it did give closure.

spoiler[Strangely, Setsuna and Graham still haven't a decent protracted battle in the second season. In fact, there haven't been any protracted one-on-one battles in the whole series. ]

One of my issues with the series as a whole.

Still, it was pretty cool seeing Setsuna and Graham just rip into each other's mobile suits in that battle.

I was expecting him to just not show up. I mean, first of all he was on the ground last we saw him, and second he just came out of nowhere. Come to think of it, the gold mobile suit also came out of nowhere, and now we get a time skip and a (mostly) whole new set of characters to identify with. It feels to me like a lot of unnecessary brushing aside to make way for the new season 2 plotline.

I hear ya. I honestly didn't even think he was going to be in the final episode of season 1; assuming spoiler[his new flag ]wouldn't show up until season 2(not sure if I needed a spoiler tag there, but I will play it safe.). His fight with Setsuna felt rushed. On the other end, Setsuna's fight with the spoiler[gold gundam] seemed longer than it needed to be. If it were me, I would have made the fight with Graham long and the fight with the spoiler[gold gundam] short. But what do I know Wink .

Season 1 ended pretty nicely with the final battle between Setsuna and Alejandro in his,but after his mobile armor was dystroyed, all of a sudden he emerged with his Golden Mobile suit, for some reason, the fight scene felt sort of like a rehash of Gundam Seed's final battle in some scenes, but god damn it,Sci fi had to ruin the epilouge with they're stupid commercial interuptions Evil or Very Mad

this is one good reason to never watch an epic anime on a network that distracts the epilouge endings with pointless commercial interuptions.

Eh, just hit YouTube for the epilogue if you're interested. It's not like they won't go over it again next season, probably at the very start.

Well it's not like it's unusual for Gundam series to be suspiciously similar to others. But there's no harm in that. Anyways, I enjoyed the ending and really want to watch season 2 now. It was over all one of my favorite Gundams (not the best though).

Scifi.com's schedulebot lists "Gundam Season 2" as starting June 29th at 11:00.

...

Yeah, that's all I've got to say.

This should get merged with the dub thread....

Anyways, nice to see that they're going to air the second season so soon. I just hope that Sci-fi stops cutting stuff for time. Sad
