Ack. I'm so sick of this song. I don't know how many versions of this song I had to sing in junior high and high school choir. Probably 4 or 5.
Anyway, I believe there were a couple more "classical" songs in Kenshin that were by Beethoven.
1. The episode where Kenshin leaves for Kyoto. I think lianncoop-sama mentioned it. It's the one that plays when he hugs Kaoru and she starts crying, and yadda, yadda, yadda...
2. The episode where Yuumi died. They play it when she explains how happy she was to finally be of use to Shishio.
Come to think of it, I believe the names were mentioned in that Kenshin thread I was so caught up in a few months ago. In that case, I'll go back and look through it sometime and post them, unless someone beats me to it.

Hahah...yeah, I went back through that thread too, Tony K. I had the name of the Kenshin song wrong, which is why I posted the correct title in this thread... ;

Other than the openings and endings, *all* background music in LoGH is classical pieces, with some movements pretty much taken in their entirety. Which makes paying $35 for a soundtrack rather annoying...

Azumanga Daioh does some classical song, I can't exactly get my fingers on it though.
Perhaps it's not classical maybe, but I know I've heard it from something old elsewhere. Anyone know what I'm talking about? They play it decently often, especially during all the track run scenes.

konnichiwa minna-san! i'm new here...and pardon me if this was mentioned already, the classical music i can recognize in anime is Beethoven's Sonata No. 8 "Pathetique", when Yumi was dying, and Moonlight Sonata, when Sayo was playing the piano...

Ahem. Konnichiwa, Magami-san. Thank you for the Kenshin references, but I don't think you had to put the entire post in BIG GREEN LETTERS. I just wanted to point that out real quick.
And welcome to the forum!

Big O had some nice classical-esque music, and no I'm not talking about the Big O... Big O, Big O, Big O! intro -
The episode w/Instro had a very nice piano sonata, and Dorothy plays a song quite often to wake Roger. Don't have any names, though.

Bah, I can't remember the name of the piece at the beginning of ep 13, but I know it's the same thing they use to introduce Kobe (Italian) on Iron Chef. ^_^

You're talking about the string piece, right? Funny. I've always thought that it was an original piece from the Big O, and that Iron Chef just sort of borrowed it like it borrowed the theme from Backdraft, and some of Yohko Kanno's works. I could be wrong. Oh well
Back to the topic: Light Cavalry Overture plays at the last episode of Captain Tylor.

That would be Variation 23, track 11 by Andrew Lloyd-Weber from "Variations/Aurora."

cowboy bebop features ave maria in session #5, and also the end of scratch (#21 or 22 maybe) features a piece called 23, which ends with a progression from an old, old hymn. toys in the attic (#11 or 12) features tchaikovsky's waltz of the flowers.

it seems like the episode had something to do with amadeus but the piece didn't sound very mozart-like. does anyone know what this one is, if it is a real piece? it's very complex, fast and somewhat dissonant, hence not sounding like mozart.
escaflowne has a wonderful score, can't ever get enough of yoko kanno.
and i think princess mononoke has one of the greatest scores ever of any movie i've ever seen. that's just great stuff there.

That song was also played on Love Hina episode 13 where:
Shinobu got kissed by Kaolla due to her curiosity about kissing a loved one or how it feels like to kiss or so.
I STILL got to know what the title of that piece!

Music is very important element of animes for me and classicasl music really helps set the mood and bring forth emtions.
Volinst of hameln was okay, but it was repeptitive in terms of music and animation, has anyone seen 'iano' I really wanted the fansubs but most fansubs seems to be dead. Is the music in that any good?

Both Rurouni Kenshin OVA's have soundtracks and both of them are full of scores of classical melodious music. Composed by Taku Iwasaki, the soundtrack for Trust/Betrayal gives off a feeling of the OVA so much as to when you listen to it, you vividly remeber what was going on during that song. Yet it also manages to define itself as more then an anime soundtrack and as something even better.
I liked War of the last wolves and Quiet life (either version of it)
As for the soundtrack concerning Seisouhen, It's quite possibly my favorite soundtrack of all time.
