This time its Detective Loki. Detective Loki.... To be honest i havn't heard all too much about this show. So i havn't much to go on in terms of what i know. To me it looks rather interesting. A comedy/mystery involving mythical gods and all that fun stuff. Looks pretty enjoyable to watch. But all i have are 1-2 reviews of the show via internet, and this ANN plotline...

Plot Summary wrote:
Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has been exiled to the human world for what was apparently was a bad joke. Along with being exiled, he’s forced to take the form of a child. He’s told the only way he can get back to the world of the gods is if he can collect auras of evil that take over human hearts, and so to do this he runs a detective agency. Loki is soon joined by a human girl named Mayura who is a maniac for mysteries, and she soon helps out in her own way. However, soon other Norse gods begin to appear, and most have the intent to assassinate Loki for reasons unclear.

I hear from these reviews and what not, that it is a pretty good one overall, except for that the characters can become rather annoying. The characters are certianly a major part of what makes an anime good or mediocer (spelling) etc... I also hear that , like many of the animes now-a-days, it leaves a couple of important questions unanswered. That they just leave these important ideas that the anime revolved around open, not as if the watcher is to interpert it, but just leaves it hanging, bare. And lastly, i hear that it gets extremeley repetitive after the beginning episode... some people can deal with this, like me, but they emphasize the fact that it gets repetitive to the point that i feel like askign people about that. So if you would, for the people who have seen it, i hope you can help answer some of the questions... disagree or agree on what i've heard and elaborate on them. Also if anyone else hasn't seen it, but has heard different opposing or even simular reviews, it would be nice if you could state them. Also if you have heard some good things about it... then yeah. Wink If i do end up wanting to watch it, what would you think is worth it, buying it at a rather expensive price (but perhaps worth it?), or renting it and not having the luxury of owning it?

-Elfen12- i sort of focused on the negatives of the show in my super fabulous post

Loki is good if you're into comedic fluff, because that's basically the backbone of the whole series. There's a lot of slapstick humor and quirky characterization, but in the end it's quite a cute little show, and I enjoyed it enough to buy it. The end is sort of open (especially the last few minutes - I think they were setting up for a sequel which never got off the ground), but ultimately the plot is second to the detective cases and the silliness of the characters interacting with each other so I didn't find it too annoying. It's not like the whole series sets up a magnificent plot and just drops it or anything like that. As for being repetitive, it's fairly monster-of-the-week with a few plot episodes tossed in near the end. Almost every episode revolves around a strange mystery that needs to be solved, and you can bet that, at least once in each episode, Mayura will squeal about something, Yamino will get something in the mail, and Loki will go into his battle-power-up sequence. I wouldn't say that the show suffers because of it, though, since there's a decent variety of cases being investigated along with the occasional just for fun episode.

If you're not looking for something that's particularly deep, thoughtful, or plot intensive you could do worse than Loki. It's not the greatest thing ever, but it's a really sweet show if you just turn your brain off and enjoy the fun settings and colorful characters. I'd definitely hold off on buying it until you've been able to see it through rentals or whatever, though.

I agree very much with Murasakisuishou's post. I thought it was a light, fun series, and it was interesting seeing an anime's interpretation of the Norse gods (although it also appears somewhat in the Ah My Goddess series). The ending is definitely exasperating though, since while it does finish up the season finale arc, it also hints VERY strongly that a new big arc is starting... and then that's it. All done.

Some parts were just silly, some parts were hilarious. Don't expect anything too deep, and just enjoy the ride.

That is pretty much what i'm looking out if i were to sum it up into words, however you sumed it up for me, how nice. Yeah thats pretty much what i need at the moment. And in this rather weird feeling moment, i feel that i won't need to think about it too hard to find an understanding or a point that its trying to make, since it's just slapstick comedy... at least thats what i'll do unless i automatically do it, hah. But yes, i do tend to rather enjoy comedic laid back animes, that you can just watch with ease, in all honesty, I'm not sure of others opinions on this (and its a tad off topic, no it's completely off topic) but that is why i liked Fruits Basket so much... my #1 fav... i thought it was sort of like that in a way too, but it was also differnet, so scratch that a bit.

Ah yes, well i hope its not something that i wnat to see the next ... "arc" is it called, so bad that i go nuts. But yes i can ususaly deal with that. But perhaps they were or still are going to do one and they havn't/never got to it. Anywho yeah, its good to see two opinions that are rather close to the same, shows validity.

Two very helpful posts!

I found that it was really fun to watch and it was interesting to try and make the viewer sympathetic for loki because he is the trouble maker in norse mythology. It's lots of fluff but good fluff and even though I found the resident "pink haired cute girl" to be a little annoying it's still good for a watch through.
