Well, the key for the mechs in Code Geass were already basically USB drives in form, so it makes sense for them to be producing them.

Yeah, talk about a convenient marketing opportunity for Code Geass. At $83 though, I'll be surprised if they move a serious number of those (then again, considering how much otaku in Japan pay for their DVDs...). Also, I wonder if the "platinum" version is going to be coated in a thin layer of the metal, or if the manufacturers are making some better version of the drive? Either way, talk about marketing gimmicks.
The TTGL drive would've looked better if it were shiny, I think. At least it's cheaper, though.

I really want the Gurren Lagann one. I mean, it would give me an excuse to give load, epic speeches and scream before plugging in my USB drive. And that's awesome.

Man I want that Geass one. It would allow me to use 'fabulous' hand motions every time I want to connect the drive to my computer.

Gurren Lagann isn't made by Sunrise, though. Gurren Lagann is Gainax's work.

Quoting this because I just checked the article again, and Gurren Lagann was still listed as a Sunrise show. Only Gintama was changed (incorrectly, maybe? Gainax was only a second key animator on Gintama, whereas Sunrise was responsible for overall animation production).

Agreed, as much as it would pain me to buy an 80 dollar USB flash drive, I really really want one. And a Zero helmet.

Except Suzaku doesn't do any showy hand motions, he just put the key in the ignition.

Gotta ruin people's fun with facts, huh?
If I had the cash for it and hadn't just purchased an iPod Touch, I'd get one of those. That Lancelot USB drive is just freaking awesome.

Yeah, that Lancelot key is AWESOME. If Code Geass has nothing else going for it, it's got great art direction! Thankfully, it backs it up with a story that is 1 part ridiculous, 1 part epic, and 3 parts cool. But 8500 Yen (about)? That's a pretty steep price to pay.

I will be getting both the Lancelot and Core Drill USB drives.
Thanks, ANN. More random stuff for my collection, lol.

Oh, yeah....I need one of those Core Drills...it'll make me quite the hero with the otaku that I kick it with. It would make a pretty good cosplay accessory, too.
