COOL!
Well, ok, to tell you the truth that single shot doesn't exactly invoke an amazing response from me but hey, this is Gainax, it'll probably be fairly good and simply because it has Gainax's name on it, I'll be looking for this when it airs.

It will also have GAINAX hobo-end. Which would be awesome. Or maybe she randomly will get a giant mecha that runs on pure awesome and she will defeat enemies the size of galaxies, that happen to be insect angels.
Then again, this isn't a Gainax original work, so it will probably just be a run-of-the-mill affair and nothing too special.

That image isn't exactly a big draw for me; nearly a negative, actually.
HOW-ever, Kubota's involvement does intrigue me as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time's character animation was superb.

Damn only 1 chapter is "out", hopefully this announcement changes that.

Lots of talent behind this production. The premise may not be the most original, but I think it'll at least be worth checking out.

On one hand this doesn't sound very original but on the other hand it is a story Gainax has not used yet so they might turn it into something refreshing.

First chapter should make a decent/good first episode, especially if the animation and music is @ Gurren Lagann quality. I hope Gainax use Taku Iwasaki again, his Lagann score was fantastic as is his current Soul Eater music.

character design looks very sharp...
if the action sequences are fast and exciting, this could be one of the best new action series in late 2008...
can't wait to see it!!

True, that would be a good addition. I wasn't aware he was working on Soul Eater as well though, but it's no wonder since I love the music for both TTGL and Soul Eater.

Urgh. Other than KareKano, Gainax hasn't had the best track record with adaptations. Mahoromatic and He is My Master were both competent, sure enough, but even recently, it's been their original stuff that's been more interesting, and more daring.

To be honest, my first impression is that it will be another lame girls with guns fanservice-fest. Who knows though, that kind of show is potentially still enjoyable if it also has some level of actual substance to go with it.

Anime News Network wrote: | ANN has confirmed that Gainax's new television series will be Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess) this fall. The "Corpse Princess" of the title is Makina Hoshino, a undead girl who hunts down 108 corpses in order to go to heaven. |
Actually the family name of the protagonist is Hoshimura. Not 'Hoshino'. Her Name is 星村眞姫那 Hoshimura Makina. See the 'announcement of the next volume' page which the tankōbon of Shikabanehime have.
Though in LoveRoma there is a character whose name is Hoshino Makina, it is a different manga in the first place.
