Wow! Been a minute, but an adaptation from Studio 4C?! Pour it straight into my veins.

Can't believe this is finally getting its own anime adaption. And it's from Rita's perspective? Wow.

Oh wow, this announcement is interesting. I didn't know the novel that would later become The Edge of Tomorrow is now becoming an anime.
Are there any chance we can probably get Tom Cruise (maybe not voicing Keiji, which William Cage is based on, but another character) and Emily Blunt to voice the characters. I mean Rita Vrataski (who become British for the live-action adaptation that Emily played) would be kind of neat if they get Emily Blunt to reprise her role but with an American accent for the English dub. I mean why not, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off's English voice got a lot of the live-action cast to reprise their role for the anime, I don't see why's that not possible for this anime. If Netflix is able to get this film, then I think it's possible for them to get Emily Blunt to reprise her role for this one.

I wanted them to stick to Yoshitoshi ABe's design, but oh well.

Aside from the obvious "can they afford to hire Tom Cruise for a dub?" question, I'm not sure if Tom Cruise has ever voice acted (not counting dubbing in his own lines in ADR for anything not filmed on a quiet set).

I guess the movie sequel is off. As for Netflix, it's probably heading to Max.

As someone who liked the original novel I am quite disappointed that it is a second adaptation but they are taking a lot of liberties yet again:
1. What's with a plot? Will it be a prequel based on Rita's past? An adaptation with Keiji and Rita swapping roles/ Or they just showed everything from Rita's perspective but changed a lot of scenes? And how much of the plot will be changed this time? Hard to say from this PV.
2. What's with the suit designes yet again? In the book they were wort of like mobile tanks: small enough to only have one person inside but big enough so people can put photos on the cockpit glass without them obstructing the view. Hollywood movie turned them in some exoskeletons with no protection and only extra power for the user. While here they look like some sort of astronautr suites.

Can anyone confirm if Nishimi Shoujirou is in charge of the character designs? I thought it looked like the .hack//LINK opening designs, so I just did some digging around and found both that and Tekkonkinkreet under his name. It really feels like his design work.

He was actually the titular Captain Planet in the pilot of that show, but by the time it went to series he was replaced when they couldn't come to terms on a deal.
I'm not feeling the visuals, especially after the manga.

Admittedly I've never read the original novel, but I loved Edge of Tomorrow, so I'm 100% down to see this new version.

"Now you have an anime adaptation by STUDIO 4℃."
"Yay!"
"But you don't get to see Tom Cruise get squished 10,000 times."
"BOO!"
