Copper theft is 'normal' everywhere. Sad that thieves don't care what they destroy.

Were they copper plates? They're common here but we don't have shrines so people steal them from work sites or train tracks (if they don't get electrocuted and die trying)
Sucks that it happens to a religious site |

Article says they were copper roof plates. With the amount stolen, it sounds more like a group or gang of copper thieves. Here in Virginia, thieves steal copper wiring, copper piping and other copper products from mobile homes and other places and things..
The roof of the Shrine, probably looked like a copper bonanza. Hopefully they will catch the thieves and recover the copper roof plates before they get melted down. Even if they recover the copper roof plates, it will probably be expensive to repair the roof. |
