It wouldn't surprise if they are actually keeping 0079 remake announcement for 2029.

As for other major works, frankly, I am really not interested in new stuff (as in complety new setting, story, and characters), and would rather have a sequel to Victory, or a new story related to Wing, or 00.

If they really have to do more UC titles, anime adaptation of Char's Deleted Affair would be nice.

Judging from reading the announcement, it does look promising to me. I would like to see what comes out of these projects.

I’m honestly surprised they’re still claiming the movie is going to happen. There has been zero movement on that. No casting, not a single mention in the production trades, nothing.

The best opportunity for that to happen was several years ago, when they decided to adapt The Origin. I have a hard time imagining they'd be keen on another remake any time soon, unless they just decide to split the difference and do a cheaper adaptation of the the bits from The Origin that haven't already been animated... giving us two incomplete adaptations.

Well, you know what they say: be careful what you wish for. Sequels can be pretty iffy... I don't think I've met anyone who was happy with Frozen Teardrop, and as much as I love Victory, I'm not sure there'd be much point in a sequel, given how much the setting has moved away from the iconography and political factions that make the UC so appealing to most people -- which is why we keep getting all of these interquels.

And I'm pretty tired of those, myself. We don't need to see the the remnants of the remnants of the remnants of the remnants of the remnants of the remnants of Zeon pop up again to cause mischief, do we?

Just about the only UC project that could get me genuinely excited would be an adaptation of Ecole du Ciel.

The guy currently translating it seems very happy with FT, and I'm excited to see what it's actually like rather than going off vague third-hand impressions of what it's even about.

I would be interested in the Char story if it was specifically honed in on & told from Haman's perspective. I wasn't 100% pleased with Char's portrayal in the Origins show, and Haman's perspective (a woman+leader growing up in Zeon) as well as the connective line between Char and Mineva would be great for ZZ & Unicorn fans.

I'm of the same mind with "new stuff". Universal Century needs to advance and I still feel like F91 and Crossbone have not been fully realised in animation to their full potential.

I definitely feel the "be careful what you wish for" vibe though too, as any Universal Century without even the distant influence of Tomino might not actually feel (in spirit) quite right....

Char's Deleted Affair is a good call. I'd expect a lot of these to be interquels; I hope they will not continue to be about how sad Zeon were about x. Unfortunately, I don't love where UC went after Unicorn in the timeline.

Honestly, I think ZZ is the only series where some decent compilation films would actually be worthwhile. The first half of the series is really poor and making the better 2nd half material more easily consumed would be good.

Some AU sequels have been worthwhile (Endless Waltz is the best part of Wing) but I don't expect that. I would be happy to get another AU; Iron Blooded Orphans and Witch from Mercury may not have been total successes, but I don't think they were total failures either.

It would be nice for the Hathaway's Flash trilogy to be completed by 2029.

2 more hathway films and the hollywood production makes up the bulk of this for sure.
Could definitely see a world where they announce a remaster/rebuild of 0079 for 2029.

Oddball pick for me though is that recently teased new G Gundam project getting an animation.

I personally don't understand the appeal of remaking the original Gundam when it's already a good and timeless story other than to appease anime fans who refuse to watch anything made before the year 2000. And if it did get a remake everyone will complain when the English dub inevitably doesn't have any of the original Canadian actors.

The main reason is simply that the animation hasn't aged very well.
