Re: dub talk, I can access the full season dubbed on Tubi from the US. Was it different at the time of writing perhaps?

Honestly I enjoyed the show. Yeah it doesn't offer much in the way of high stakes sports drama but I really enjoyed the characters and the central conflict of getting Tonbo to overcome her fears and leave the island.
I'm definitely curious to see how season 2 plays out. |

Yeah, there was only one episode available when I checked and that was only a couple of weeks ago so they must have added the rest very recently |

The manga by Ken Kawasaki and Yu Furusawa has been serialized in Weekly Golf Digest since 2014 and currently totals 52 volumes. So the viewer would do well to keep in mind that this isn't your usual shonen sports drama. It is written for golfers. In other words, if you don't find Tonbo's inventive use of a 3 iron inherently fascinating, then the series probably isn't for you.

First off, golf has never been exciting.
Knowing golf has never ever even once been exciting, I sampled Tonbo with no small amount of expecting to be thoroughly bored. I quickly found myself amused and curious (although never entertained or intrigued), and binged the whole season. It was cute and colorful and fun, much like golf in the real world. One thumb up. |
