Yep definitely felt like the final chapter to me and well it’s not like Kyoani are going to be bored with the concluding Sound Euphonium production

No idea where you got that idea, no, not at all. This is the end unless they decide to adapt the final final novel that came out a few month ago.

I was lucky enough to catch the screening of this locally, and I'm glad to have watched it before reading this review, which feels like it was written to discourage people from watching and discussing the movie when it became available for them. In general, early reviews here have a history of pointing out a given anime movie's similarity to the TV series as a flaw, but this is demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of what anime movies are intended to accomplish (that is, extending on the TV series' themes and make it a proper movie experience).
With this in mind, there are two excellent reviews of the series: one is from Richard Eisenbeis, which was published a ways later, and here's another which similarly does the film justice. Both demonstrate a more complete understanding of what the film was intended to achieve, and again, this shows there's very little point in writing about a movie the moment it comes out, especially if no one else can watch it for a long time after.

Glad this managed to get a second opinion on this site, because this was honestly embarrassing to read. Like the movie has the subtlety of a brick when it comes to its exploration of the power of the written word, the importance of expressing your feelings when you have the chance, and the looming future that awaited Violet as represented by the lurking encroachment of technological obsolescence. So how do you miss the importance of the wraparound story and think it "doesn't add much"? Were these just thoughts hastily scribbled down a second after a theater showing, after only looking at the screen every so often?
