It is absolutely hilarious & ridiculous that NOT EVEN THE THEATER CHAIN RUNNING THE MOVIE actually knows what it's about, which is the literal final game of the entire manga, i.e. "The Last Slam Dunk" (which I myself didn't even know was the plot until ANN's review of the film about a week ago).
I've seen people explain that Inoue had a reason for calling the movie "The First", but at this point the title has proven itself to be absolutely terrible in actually conveying what it's about, and that's a problem.

Kind of odd they list it without a source or a distributor announcing this. Wonder if either Crunchyroll or GKIDS are picking it up. Or maybe they are waiting until Annecy to announce it MAYBE.

It's Toei Animation, they're likely doing it themselves through their US office just like with the recent Digimon movies and some of the old One Piece films that got Fathom screenings a while back.
