The Idolmaster and Cinderella Girls anime were so well-animated. Then SideM decided to animate the dancing in really clunky 3D and I just felt disappointed... and now they finally give us a Million Live anime and the entire show is clunky 3D...

I want to cry. ):

It's not "clunky" at all. The 3D looks fantastic and near 2D at times on certain angles with beautiful effects and the lives are going to look amazing like this. I'd say it's on par with later Aikatsu models. I'm quite excited for this to be in such high quality.

Lessons were learned as everyone is in the anime, this installment will be free of the disasters Cinderella Girls had.

It's been so long I can't remember the issues the anime had for the most part. What exactly went wrong with it? I do remember the final ep just being a hilarious clip show but that's all I can really remember about it.

A lot of people were upset when their favorite characters didn't show up or didn't get enough attention, but I wouldn't call that a "disaster". I've watched both seasons trice now and I love it more every time. They did really well with the screentime they had.

I'm not going to harp on your feelings or anything. 3D gets a lot more gripe in the anime community that it usually deserves and the visual effects and lighting most certainly spice up the look of this show. The 3D isn't, like, a Berserk-level disaster by any means, and I sgree that there are a few shots you can tell they really spent time on to get the 2D look down pat... but it genuinely looks really clunky to me as a whole, like the characters are puppets being pulled on a string and not living flesh characters when they start running and dancing. This would probably be a step up from, say, SideM or Love Live, and maybe par with Aikatsu, but compared to the franchise's most expressive works, it feels like a humungous step down. I couldn't even finish watching the trailer because the movement felt so stiff. It's so jarring...
