This is silly. I barely have the patience to sit through half an awards show (everyone knows the second half is where they put all the good awards) and now they want us to watch two shows for one set of awards? Nah. I'll just come here and read the list of winners afterward.

The Presenter's Choice Award will allow a "special guest" to present an award to an "honored contributor" of their choice. The recipient could be a person, studio, or company acknowledged for various reasons, including overcoming a major professional hurdle, a milestone, or congratulating them for inspirational contributions.

Considering the news that just came out, there's really no other person who can win this award other than Right Stuf's Shawne Kleckner... right?

That’s the case with a lot of award shows these days actually. It’s why so many are dealing with poor ratings.

No Best Fight Scene? That's lame.

Out of all the changes, what immediately jumped out at me was that no Fall 2022 shows are eligible this year. It's certainly an interesting rule change considering just how stacked the season has been both in quality and the sheer amount of different types of shows. Can’t imagine CR wouldn’t want to take advantage of the more recent hype and hits but this must make the deliberation process easier.

I wish but I imagine they'll want to give it to a JPN industry person considering the Awards are now being held there and meant for an international audience, not just North America.

Worst awards in the entertainment industry. None of the winners deserved to win and the award ceremony itself has been cringe every second of its runtime.

Just pull the plug on this abomination. Thanks.

I do wonder what they're going to do about OP/ED. I get taking out Fall series for the other categories, but I'd be bummed if they took out a quarter of the year's sequences. And it's not like they can consider OP/EDs from last Fall to make up for it, so I hope those two are an exception.

Thankfully it's a pretty solid year either way for both. Best ED Sequence has both Kaguya-sama EDs, Spy x Family, and Dance Dance Danseur just off the top of my head without looking at any Fall shows (namely the glut of CSM EDs haha).

Best Opening has Ranking of Kings OP 2 and the most recent One Piece OP which are both stunningly gorgeous. Not to mention Dance Dance Danseur, Kongming, Shikimori, Kaguya-sama, Komi-san, Ao Ashi OP 2, Call of the Night... the list goes on

"Best Voice Actor Performance" is listed as a single category in the press release. The category will include Arabic, Castilian, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish performances.

I feel like this would screw over non-Japanese and non-English VAs. I say, Crunchyroll should've separated the languages, Japanese (and maybe English) VA everybody can vote worldwide, but international VAs people vote in their own country. International non-English/Japanese VAs deserve to be recognized better.

It's possible the awards will be for individual language like last year, but it wasn't immediately clear from the press release.

More re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic to create the impression that Crunchyroll Brand Awareness Awards are relevant.

My assumption was that it was just going to be like it was last year - JPN and [insert own language here]. Like I remember being able to see the nominees for Spanish, German, etc... but only being able to vote for JPN and ENG.

Having every language considered together in one category would just piss off so many people. Might help if CR clarifies things because I didn't even think this was an issue when skimming through the site but I've already seen a bunch of people (namely VAs) being really confused or just eye-rolling the whole thing.

ETA: Okay its really obvious if you go to the site they are doing what they did last year with each language, just seems like it could have been worded more clearly in their press release.

I still remember when they had a 'Ymir and Historia' as a best couple when there's zero romance there and it's a one sided thing at most.
