It's definitely been a journey for both Kirito, Asuna, and the audience.
Happy 10th Anniversary!

Too little too late - Yes every die-hard fan of SAO franchise knows that 2022 on november 6th aincrad and SAO game of death was started. But this year the SAO café closed in March, Kawahara doesn't publish new SAO Progressive Volume and Scherzo of Deep Night will only get released in Japan and some parts of US and Canada. in mid 2023 (11 years not 10) the rest of the world maybe? will get to see the death game's "celebration" of 10 years. If all of the films are related to music, why is the soundtrack of the films so BAD?? If SAO is a world franchise, why do they take almost a whole year to release it late? If Kawahara is the first benefited from SAO, why is he so passive to 10 year anniversary, delayed releases and hiatus SAO Progressive volumes? At most SAO Progressive has 4 films in 4 years, but then what? Kawahara retires and SAO is finally abandoned? </3 :'( RIP SAO - Death game is dying...Crunchyroll is (re)-releasing SAO-Alicization (dubbed)(2018) in April to celebrate the 10 years
Demon Slayer Movie (2nd one) has made 30 million dollars in about a week in the U.S. this is 30 times more money that Aria of a Starless Night (First film of Progressive Series LN's). and Progressive films are changed from SAO orginal LN's, SAO original animes. It's as if they want to revamp the 10 year old series, but have lost the reasons this franchise was successful to first anime viewers (like me).

I never watched SAO but I'm curious about it. I like isekai and fantasy anime in general, but not all of them.
My most favourite isekai series are RE: Zero and The Twelve Kingdoms, but I also like Shield Hero, Mushoku Tensei, Tensura, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Iruma-kun, Bofuri, DanMachi (not an isekai but similar in tone/tropes), and others.
Do you think I could enjoy SAO, too? I read somewhere that it becomes less good later in the series so I never tried it so far, but I may reconsider.

Sword Art Online, is a virtual reality VRRMORPG (Virtual Reaity Massive Multiplayer Role Playing Game. It began this SAO Game with 10 real players from all over the world on November 6th 2022 in the story. Then the architect of the game took it over and made it impossible for all of the 10 thousand players to leave unless their HP went down to zero. So it became a death game.
It was my first anime, it made me get into light novel series. If you only like anime series, This SAO has one season into two parts and then has Gun Gale Online, and Alicization (both are really good and I highly recommend them). If you are into Light novels, SAO has 25 volumes so far (about 1 new one every 11 months in Japan - in English a little bit more). Like Zero series, SAO in 2012 started it's own Reset-start from zero again series called SAO Progressive (this one is a day to day story about what happened in the 100 floors of the Aincrad Sao game. This one is a little bit slower with only 8 volumes so far (8th volume to be released in English in late April 2022).
The passion, intensity and values ( honesty, bravery, love, etc) are what got me hooked in the series and even made me read and watch everything the author, Reki Kawahara has done (Accel World and The Isolator).
So there is plenty to see, plenty to read and to keep you interested. The SAO soundtracks are some of the best I have heard so far.
If you have any questions, please ask away.
I am harsh in my criticism of the author and his team because they are too passive and do too little. While Demon Slayer is making box office records, the first film Aria of a Starless night (Progressive Series Anime FIlm) made about 14 million dollars in the whole world (this is half of what 2 movie of Demon Slayer made in a week in the US alone). While Gurenge and other songs have hit and stayed in number one for weeks SAO Progressive is lackluster and controversial. It saddens me to admit defeat in this sense.
