I am still confused why the Switch is not getting this especially at this day and age and the fact the first Soul Hackers game was on the 3DS.

The first game wasn't originally on the 3ds, but it's still an odd omission to have no switch port. The gameplay in the trailer doesn't look more demanding than anything in P5S or SMTV.

I might want to watch this closely because Sony is censor happy with violence unlike Microsoft. I'm surprised it got Xbox versions, instead of a Switch version; as it doesn't look demanding at all, nor something that would even sell on Xbox (In fact SMT has sold horribly on Xbox in the past).

Count me in as someone else surprised the Switch wasn't included. Hopefully down the line.

Stop with the fear mongering just because of the recent news about that BS game Martha is Dead (a game mechanic where the user is forced to peel a corpse face and then wear it)… Also, the only game I remember Sony censoring from Atlus dates 7 years ago; a mediocre game called Dungeons Travelers 2… The fact that they didn’t censored Catherine Full Body (from Atlus) should be enough to tell you this new game from Atlus won’t be censored.

One game being censored for violence makes them censor happy?

Secondly if you know anything about the SMT games their depictions of on screen violence typically has never been on the same level as most M Rated games. Preferring to rely more or telling than showing.

Nothing in this trailer really struck me as a sequel to Soul Hackers, whether in vibe, aesthetic, or what I could gather from the plot/story(I heard Phantom Society mentioned). This is the natural result when you make a sequel to a game from 1997 in 2022, I guess. Just from the trailer, this could've been any Persona-esque game, right down to the little mascot buddy.

I guess this means SMT spin-offs besides Persona aren't dead after all. Who knows, maybe we can have a Devil Survivor 3 one day.

Atlus' decision to skip the Switch seems strange to me as well, I'm not saying that every game has to come to the system but the Switch has amassed a large number of RPGs and Atlus has published various games for the system. Perhaps the game is quite demanding even for the PS4 and XOne, kinda like Scarlet Nexus and Tales of Arise.
Still, I think SEGA and Atlus are confident the game will be a global success, Joker's appearance may attract some Persona fans, I just hope that the launch numbers for the game in Japan won't be as low as other recent RPGs in that region like Scarlet Nexus, NEO TWEWY and Kuro no Kiseki, I think Atlus is hoping for an SMT V situation.
Still, there is a chance that the game will arrive on the Switch at a later date, as it was the case with titles like DB Fighterz, Jump Force, DBZ Kakarot, God Eater 3, 13 Sentinels, Demon Slayer, Crash 4, it seems that some developers need more time to port games to the system.

I'm kind of surprised that A. it doesn't look like they're going for a generic blank slate protagonist and B. the protagonist is a woman.

You could say the same with Soul Hackers 1 and Persona 2. The design and visual direction are almost identical down to the demon design philosophy, the only difference is P2 decided to ditch the first person format. But you can still see that visual wise P2 is closer to SH1 than to P1.

They have a history now

Here's some examples of Sony censoring:

I wonder if Atlus has some weird love/hate relationship with the Switch to not have this on it.

Hate if a strong word considering they decided to make Shin Megami Tensei V an exclusive for the system, at least for now. Atlus also brought Catherine: Full Body, P4 Arena Multimax, P5 Strikers, SMT III and Tokyo Mirage Sessions to the Switch as well, perhaps Soul Hackers isn't suited for the Switch's hardware, maybe they'll manage to get the game running on the Switch at a later date. As for why the mainline Persona titles aren't available, maybe Atlus does have an exclusivity contract with Sony, although I heard a rumor saying that the Persona team just prefers the PlayStation hardware, other developers like Falcom also tend to favor Sony, though in recent years Falcom was forced to develop games for Nintendo due to a decline in sales in Japan, Atlus' games on the other hand sell well in the West
