Why is the word fruitmaster put in brackets? Is that supposed to mean anything?

Rebecca, Bogus Skill <<fruitmaster>>
Quote: | So imagine my shock when I looked it up and realized that I haven't read the manga and that the light novel isn't even legally available in English. |
The light novel is on permanent hiatus/cancelled at 1 volume so the anime is likely to follow the manga which is ongoing and presumably follows the webnovel in turn.
Edit; Funny how the first two premieres (fruitmaster and beheneko) we got both had their light novels axed for various reasons but still continuing as webnovel/manga...

It's just how that world is denoting the specific skills, and was carried over into the titling.
Beheneko was alright, but probably on the chopping block if Saturdays end up too busy.
Fate/strange Fake is a probable lock on Narita alone, let's hope we don't spend too much time with those teeth though.
Bogus Skill «Fruitmaster» gets a hard pass, not a single redeeming factor to its One Piece-power-gimmick-but-make-it-generic-ass-fantasy.
Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time was a bit better for sneaking in a secondary perspective character in a more interesting situation, but the rest of it makes for another easy pass.
Headhunted to Another World was reasonably fun, and I had a good laugh at the Lord of Water > Overseas Manager play, but what is with that opening?
Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective has to compete with Apothecary Diaries, and I'm not sure the blatant House/Columbo love is helping its, err, case. Didn't mind this one being a two-episode premiere as it let them run a full case (but I initially thought we were getting a cliffhanger at the blue blood with that extremely late OP in the first episode).

Typo.
I might give Ameku M.D. a spin.

I wish CR had managed to get the OAV/movies. I assume it's not as in-depth as the games themselves, but they do plenty to both introduce the characters/setting and set a tone (e.g. within the first few minutes, the girls had accidentally put bullets in the brains of 2 rando nobodies because the show treats violence with all the seriousness of Looney Tunes). This episode feels like the pullback to investigate the school more after having seen everyone in action, but unless you somehow caught the earlier pieces, it ends up just feeling free-floating.

Beheneko - I thought Aria was just showing her innocence about something she hadn't seen before with Tama's... tamas, but after reading the previews and checking out a few chapters of the manga, nope, she just wants to $*#% that cat O_o
fruitmaster - might give it another episode or two to see if anything interesting happens, but it doesn't seem likely. I am curious about how the fruit work to give people skills, but I doubt the story will delve in to that.

Ameku M.D. was pretty ugly. I might watch the next case, I guess, though it's on the thinnest of ice. Not looking good is one thing, that being hampered by an awkward script and only so interesting MC who uninterestingly falls into too many tired detective clichés is another. To be fair, how it all looped back was pretty nicely done. On the flipside, even two episodes in there was already too much use of flashback to the point of feeling gratiutous and cost-saving without much going on in the first place.
Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time was much worse, simultaneously feeling like not-even-Great Value 7th Prince, later whiffs of Beast Tamer. I don't mind stat screens, or even LitRPG stuff categorically; I'm a gamer, I like gamey stuff, and have quite enjoyed reading Solo Leveling and plan to watch it (that series also feels like the least icky of its particular kind if not without flaws). Rarely does drawing comparisons strike me as the go-to when a show's merits or lack thereof can stand well enough on their own so often, as is so often the case. Still, that show really, really set the bar high for me in terms of its specific blend of shameless goofy power fantasy and people falling for the MC, and was legitimately entertaining on the regular in its own right. I don't need to be told about stat progression and how it works, about Alchemy in excess detail, every single time a Skill type has improved, persistent item naming, that Magic Iron Ore is imbued with mana, and probably some other stuff I forgot about. You coulda trimmed a meaty chunk of this and been no worse for it, if that energy was redirected towards the world, characters, whatever.
At least, Takumi isn't gross or anything. Instead of a magic pervert, we got an Alchemy... hobbyist (though frankly, wish he was am Alchemy pervert just to give him some spice). He's not like making me cringe when interacting with girls, and he's pleasant. But he's pleasant in the same way that a leftover oat breakfast bar is. Still the best thing about it, to damn with faint praise. Also, like, even if I get making basic necessities like a bed and simple kitchen, he couldn't have made something else? I'd be making a plethora of adorable wooden dolls, something I've literally fantasized about being able to do with magic, just because I can! He's even got an Inventory EX pretty much, so you could totally stack stuff up and like, I dunno. Make a big-ass doll out of small wooden dolls. The world's your magical oyster dude do something remotely interesting.
Easiest drop yet, expect it to be the easiest drop altogether with how much it looks like I'll be checking out (not much at all, including premiers).

Bogus Setup <<clichemaster>> was kinda hilarious in how ham-handed it was at presenting every point. I guess the child was raised by wolves, so the skull and crossbones didn't mean anything to her. I also chuckled in agreement with Rebecca's "Even if we disregard the way the skill fruit looks, including the fact that the way they're drawn seems to indicate that they ought to be peeled, though no one does..." as that was bugging the hell out of me during the ceremony. Like chomping into an unpeeled dragon fruit or pomegranate. I will probably at least watch the 2nd ep to see why Lena Trumped him (I don't know him, never met him) though.
For some reason Salaryman: the Demon King's Negotiator reminded me of Sasaki & Peeps, though they don't have much in common besides isekai salarymen. It seems like pretty standard fare, with shabby art, but it wasn't unpleasant. The straw holding the key was obvious from the moment it was brought up, which added to the meh. I'm not clear whether the pink haired bartender was real or not, but I hope he was, and that he will keep showing up, if I do. I liked the Demon King. I still didn't get why the one guy was just saying "no, no, no" until he looked him in the eye. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Probably Not the Fullmetal Alchemist was as dull as the reviewers all said, but there are some hints that it might grow some feathers on its bony wings down the road, like whatever is or will be going on with the other summonees. It's just that everything that happened was so contrived it was at least amusing. He just happens to save a child from a nearby village, so of course he's welcome there. But they have no inn! So instead of putting him up for a night or two before he heads for the big city...they give him land and build him a house, apparently that very afternoon! This is Cid or Krai levels of lucky. Now that I think about it, it was rather inconsiderate of him to let them waste their day building it, since he could obviously just magic it into being like he did with all the furnishings and utensils, etc.
Why does the synopsis of Little House on the Hospital put the words "murders," "mysteries," and "diseases" in scare quotes? Anyway, yeah, she's not too likeable, and so far the mysteries shake out like an episode of Conan, but I didn't hate it. Despite her open-toed footwear (maybe the rules are different in Japan?) and superiority complex, she seemed a little more believable than Doctor Elise, so I'll probably keep watching. What I didn't understand was why both the police and her superior at the hospital were so determined to keep her off the case. I can think of some reasons, but none were provided by the episodes. But I assumed her digs on the roof are permitted because her grandfather built the hospital. Btw, I think T. Rex skulls weigh from ~150 pounds to Sue's 600 pounds, but if the museum's was in the upper ranges, I dunno if he could've lifted it. So I guess it's partially plausible?

I'm sad that we will probably never get an anime adaptation of American Reincarnation★Love Alliance. America Was Expelled to Another World, and Reincarnated as a Blonde-Haired Girl (Along With Japan♪) And Headshots Monsters With Her Gun Summon Skill! What!? The Earth's in Danger and You Want Us To Go Back? Oh, Too Late, Die!

Alchemist - seems pretty generic, but the year early thing at the end and the other summoned people could be a good hook, so I'll give it the old 3 episode try.
Salaryman - Already read a bit of the manga and enjoyed it, so as long as the adaptation continues to be good, I'll be keeping up with this
Grisaia - I watched the previous 3 series that got released here, but I'll be skipping this as I already was tired of the "you thought that backstory was tragic, well wait till you see this!" thing they had going with each subsequent character. Even if this was a comedy I'm just done with this franchise.

Luckily I had more of Caitlin's than Rebecca's response to the main character, so I enjoyed the first couple of episodes and will probably enjoy the rest of it.

Let's see:
Beneko: I'm mean, it's better--or less terrible--than Peter Grill or any of the rest of those echhi shows. It's not good enough to watch, though. I'm not offended by the cat porn stuff, but it inspired one of my "Oh, Japan!" moments of loving exasperation. And not being offended doesn't mean interested. The biggest problem, of course, is now we have Gushing Over Magical Girls to act as a echii genre benchmark, and this here ain't cutting it. And now in a fairly short order we've seen shows about women wanting to do it with a dog, a pig and (she thinks) a cat. And they're all dudes reincarnated as those animals. That is, uh, a VERY specific fetish.
Alchemist was meh. I'll watch another episode or two, but it will have to give me something to stay on my viewing list. I don't require much. Give me one character I enjoy, for instance.
Fruitmaster is pretty mid, although the poor little girl nearly killing her benefactor was a moment. And man, was she shoehorned in. Still and all, again, give me something to hang my hat on, please.
Grisaia Phantom Trigger is generic and doesn't have the (generally) adorable edgelordliness I found Fruits of Gresaia all those many many years ago. The change in art style has also thrown me. Sometimes a show's lore gets too deep while being uninteresting, and I glazed out during the long info dump at the beginning. I also could not for the life of me differentiate all the girls. Pass. Let me know if they ever bring back the original cast of Fruits.
House MD Anime Girl Edition is OK, but bland. The first murderer was apparent because they hadn't really introduced anyone else who could have been the killer. That's bad script mechanics right there.
Headhunted to Another World is solid, making it the best thing I've seen so far. The funniest joke is that the Demon Lord is a great boss, but it was a gag already used in that show about the design team who built monsters for a supervillain organization.
I expect the quality of shows to improve soon.

I was feeling pedantic enough to ask my friend who's a paleontologist about the whole T-Rex thing, and she said it's unlikely that a man of his age and fitness could have lifted the skull, but it's even more unlikely that he could have used it to chop off a leg:
"Well, without googling, fossils are rocks, but they are often brittle, so if you used a fossil to strike at anything, there would be a risk of it shattering. And in the human body, breaking bones requires a lot of force. With any kind of body, its easier to disarticulate a joint than to just break a bone. I think at best, you could take a T-Rex Tooth and use it like a hammer/chisel type situation to separate the leg bones at the kneecap."

@ Princess_Irene & Gina Szanboti: so I guess y'all didn't pick up on the fact that the underground doc (no relation to Black Jack, I'm sure) used arcane magic to reanimate the T. Rex skull such that it was able to float around on its own and hardened enough to chomp off a leg without damaging the fossil? Huh.
