I really disliked the live action Bright movie with Will Smith not just because they ripped off some elements from ShadowRun, but because it was just a dumb mess. It might have worked out alright in a show format giving it time to try to handle all the stuff it was trying to juggle (Fantasy, buddy-cop drama, world-building and social commentary to name a few) in a movie. I was surprised to hear they are going to do a sequel (seriously?), and doubly surprised about an animated spin-off. I thought maybe the anime would be a show and that might be interesting. I was willing to give this franchise another try, but after reading this review I see they went the film route again and it doesn't look to be worth my bother. I might as well just rewatch Alien Nation tv show whose social commentary is more relevant to our times and buddy cop drama worked better.
