If it were a national anthem then it'd be the jauntiest national anthem in the world. The closest I can think of to a jaunty one is probably the French national anthem. |

Just another reminder... if you haven't seen Demon Slayer, now is your chance to watch it!

Given how massive a hit that song was, it getting worked into the closing ceremony isn't too surprising. Nothing about this arrangement of it really speaks specifically to it being an anime-linked, song, either;this way, it sounds like the kind of fare that could be played as an intro/exit music at an awards show.

That's pretty awesome for LiSA.

As cool it sounds, it is effectively reusing a good song. Olympics are usually always followed by a popular new hit but that didn't happen.
The tokyo olympics had horrible viewerships, and nearly the entire Japanese public wanted it cancelled since it will only spread Covid and disrupt business. Only reason it didn't was because of a sunk cost fallacy and Japan doesn't want to liable for contract cancellation. It felt the olympics were over just as fast as it got started. I get that LiSA's name is the one most prominently associated with this song, but she's only credited for vocals and lyrics and neither of which are showcased here. Would be nice if the composer Kayoko Kusano gets some credit too.

RISING HOPE by LiSA makes more sense. They just had to use KnY just because.

I didn't know it was a song from Demon Slayer, until I came here. I just thought it was wierd that they had a Ska band. Since it was a Ska band, that is probably why I didn't recognise the song, since I have watched Demon Slayer.
I know the game lovers liked hearing there game theme songs during the Parade of Nations, but for me sadly, but for me the only anime themed thing during the Olympics was the anime Taco Bell commercial, hopefully I am not going to 'fry alone' on that. We were teased so much during 2019 about what could happen anime and pop culture wise, so it is a bit disappointing on that point. If any of you were able to buy the 2020 Olympic Japanese mascots (pre-Covid), put them in sealable bags. They may be worth something in the future, since they were seemingly 'excised' from the Olympics. They could have had AKB48, or any other Idol group out there, they could have had LISA out there singing that anime song, but it had to be the most Japanese thing of all, a Ska band....... |

If I were LiSA and someone told my my song was going to be used in the Olympics... but I wouldn't be the one performing it... I'd be disappointed at best, and probably pretty offended.
Also, ska, really? This Olympics was so freakin weird. |

They couldn't have had AKB48. They've shut down all touring because several members have Covid. animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-08-01/akb48-cancels-concerts-appearances-after-7-members-test-positive-for-covid-19/.175796 |

That is true, but that was a very recent event. I am sure they would have made strong provisions to ensure that wouldn't have happened if they were scheduled to appear, which they weren't anyway. If the Ska band can make it COVID free at the Olympics, so could AKB48. Though I don't think they would have had the entire group out there either. |

Ska isn't even created in Japan, but in Jamaica. They should had used enka instead. |
