All these haters smh.
I have no issue with Madoka being there, but I do have issues with some others on the list: Girls Und Panzer? Not even subtext. Kakegurui? Barely. A Certain Scientific Railgun? Eh... Love Lab? Love Lab? The series that is actually about girls wanting to be popular with boys? Sound! Euphonium? I wish. And as others have pointed out, plenty of undeniable yuri series didn't make the list at all (or at least the top 20). Thank God Cross Ange isn't there, though. |

This yuri list is absolutely ridiculous. So many yuribaits in it like Love Lab, Euphonium, Railgun, Kakegurui, and freaking Illya. Amazing to see Girls und Panzer, which is friendly to yuri fans, though.

Everyone is focusing on Homura and Madoka, but forgetting Sayaka and Kyoko.
Simoun does seem like a major omission. People have probably forgotten about it (sigh). |

They actually have character, and development, proper conversations... Madoka x Homura isn't even a relationship, it's just Homura being obsessive Madoka's satellite. |

Eh... I mean, Madoka is my favorite anime of all time, but the yuri elements of it are strictly subtext for the entire show, and weren't really made completely overt until Rebellion... though I seem to recall Urobuchi or Shinbo may have said that Homura was indeed in love with Madoka even before that. I mean I would consider it the best anime on this list... but I don't think it really deserves to be called specifically "the best yuri anime".
Still makes more sense than Hibike Euphonium though, which admittedly teased yuri elements heavily in the first season and then backpedaled hard in the second. Unless you want to talk about Nozomi and Mizore, or say that the series genuinely was about Kumiko and spoiler[Asuka's] relationship all along, but I feel like anyone who ever looked at Eupho as a yuri series were specifically looking at Kumiko/Reina. Which, while dripping with so much subtext it was ridiculous, was ultimately sunk in the second season. |

Madoka's ranking makes me go "well, I guess..." — it's yuri enough in in my heart, but I'm sure as heck not going to insist that seeing it that way is necessary. The rest of the list seems like mostly just nonsense. Some of these shows I haven't seen, so maaaybe they're different from my impressions, but Garupan? With the quality of this list, I'm surprised Princess Principal isn't there. Or even Symphogear. Saki's presence is okay; for me, it has the cutest and most beautiful relationships between girls, but I'd rather see a list with things like Aoi Hana or Sasameki Koto. On the bright side, at least Kanamemo isn't here, but probably only out of being forgotten. I can't help but think (even with Marimite) a lot of people who voted probably started watching anime in this decade.

See, this is why I take all ANN comments with a huge lump of salt. You are free to interpret any anime in any way you like, but taking a jab at the Japanese (who, mind you, MADE the anime) for interpreting it THEIR way is... strange indeed, to quote your words. |

Railgun does have a few yuri undercurrents here and there... but besides that, there only Kuroko yuri crush on Mikoto thats, and lets be honest, is unlikely to develop past a comic gag... Least Dragon Maid on here through, thats really is about Yuri love! |

that's a cute reaction and all, but if it were not because of homura's obession over madoka there would be no series. though now I want a manga of the world of the first timeline after walpurgis night is defeated.
you know that makes a lot of sense; but it makes it worse becuase it's supossed to be about the whole heisei and it only covers a decade. |

Well dang... I guess girls just being friends counts as Yuri now. Such a weird list to me especially since the real yuri shows that were on that list didn't get many votes.
