Unless the game is made for children this sounds fine. Dubs are for people who cannot read aka. small kids.

Ouch, this doesn't bode well for the Atelier series in the U.S. Then again supposedly the games having been dipping in quality lately.

Way to throw English dub fans or even ones willing to give dubs a chance under the bus like that.

Works for me. I'm more worried about the possibility that it might be deemed as not profitable enough to warrant a dubbed version. I love Atelier franchise including Mana Khemia series. I just hope they continue to localize them, with or without dubs.

And sub-only games are for those who think it’ll sell well, only to wake up the next morning to poor sales and a negative reception of future titles in the Atelier series.
Congratulations, you played yourself.

With the dip in quality in the later games and the sales being abysmal in Japan, its no wonder. Will get other games then.

I just hope that doesn't mean the games are not profitable. Yeah, the English is useless to me, but I want the game to make money so they will translate more.

Have you factored in that there even adults with vision problems that rely on Eng. dubs to hear rather than read the show or game?

Finally those rudiments of japanese games are dying.
Too bad that many of old games had that atrocious dub without an option to chose japanese voices instead.

The game is full of important unvoiced text either way.

I guess Koei Tecmo can only afford to dub one game a year and this year they chose Dynasty Warriors 9.

The problem is these games come out quick. by the time the newest game comes out in Japan, we've only had the latest game, dubbed, for a short while. Frankly I get confused, i'm watching the trailer for the next title and I'm not through the previous one because we took so long to get it!!
Spending the extra cash for a rushed dub on a franchise that is mostly only cared for by a small hardcore group doesn't make sense. its a niche franchise and you're not gonna hit off a Renaissance in Atelier because there's a dub. The franchise has always had dubs and most RPG fans still don't go near it.
Also Ayesha had no non-dub? Very sad. the Dusk series was otherwise great. I also toggled the options on other titles...but despite being a niche title it gets to talent for voicework. Given how often you'll hear some of the lines when doing actual alchemy, they'd better be top tier.

How is this surprising? Pretty much every mainline DW game has had a dub.
