Hm. Not a lot of star power here, but that could work to its advantage. I suppose I would have to hear some of it to really get a good feel for whether or not it's going to be a good dub.

I wonder if they'll use Jason Douglas as Dessler since he is already perfectly matching Koichi Yamadera as Beerus...

Not a good sign that the main lead has only one other show to his name.

Well, that happens when the full name isn't listed. Diminutives make it difficult sometimes. Laughing

I’m not familiar with any of these voice actors. I hope it’s good. Yamato deserves some love.

I don't care that much for this dub, but I hope this leads to a local BD release for 2202.

Voyager Entertainment released the series on English-subtitled DVD and Blu-ray Discs.

They released like 4 volumes but left the release incomplete.

ANN really needs to not have a list for other names the VA goes by.

Does anyone know if they've released the whole ball of wax or just one episode at a time?

It'll probably end up on CR sometime during or after the weekly dubbed version concludes.

Finished the dub now and it is much better than I thought and it the translation is almost word for word. Including Okita's message to Earth. The voice acting is better than I thought. The video says Star Blazers 2199 nowhere just Yamato 2199.

Subbed episodes of 2199 appear to be going up on Crunchyroll starting now (more precisely, around 1 PM PST), 1 episode at a time rather than all at once: http://www.crunchyroll.com/star-blazers-space-battleship-yamato-2199

I listened to it. It didn't really sell me on Funi dubs. It's decent. About the same quality as old school Ocean Group dubs. I still wish LA dubbers were being used. I'll probably keep watching it, but I don't think it's that great.

Watched Episode 1 and I like it! (I have seen the full series subbed) I still have to reprogram my brain to not hear Captain Avatar with his gravelly voice (like he smoked 20 packs before speaking through broken glass) and Derek Wildstar speaking like he was running all the time.. but I like the new take. Okita's new voice (still Captain Avatar to me..) is good but a little stilted. I'm sure he will grow into the role. All the others are good! I'm just so happy it's finally legally streaming in English!

I'm one of those old farts who ran home from school in the late 70's to see this on television and really liked how they remade the series. TBH I love 2199 so I'm excited Funi decided to license rescue it, dub it and stream it for a new generation. I love this story and I can't wait for Season 2 when they get to my favorite character. I hope they get enough support to warrant releasing that dubbed as well.
