I really enjoyed how this volume was out in the open with everything from the beginning. I found it interesting to see how we got from point A to B.
Quote:
If the first volume of Ishio Yamagata's Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers light novel series played out like a classic mystery novel, this second volume takes its cues from contemporary suspense

I wonder if the type of story Rokka tells changes volume by volume depending on the character each volume focuses in on. I think that would be an interesting thing for a story to do.

Actually I think spoiler[we can safely eliminate Mora from being the seventh now since Tgurneu's body did die after telling her she was the seventh, which means that had been a lie and a breach of the contract with the Saint of Words.]

I am really loving this story overall and am glad to finally pick up where the anime left off. I thought it was a great choice to start out the volume with some of the big revelations and then spend the rest of the volume working toward that climax. It was really fun coming up with theories about what led to those events. I'm already very eager for the next volume.

I adored this volume; this series has really surprised me in how it continues to surprise me.

There are two things i have to correct this review on:

1. The suggestion that the 7th may not know they're the 7th is made, but in the very last pages of this volume, spoiler[Tgurneu sends explicit orders to the 7th to "wait for now", meaning that at this point the 7th is absolutely aware of the fact that they're the traitor]. I was under the impression the previous suggestion was made just to create confusion around Moira.

2.
Quote:
[Rolonia] sometimes feels like she was created just so that Fremy could have a rival for Adlet's affections (not that he acknowledges either of them romantically).
Adlet explicitly declared his love for Fremy in volume 1; it was a pretty big plot point. Does the reviewer mean that Adlet was putting their relationship on hold? Because he absolutely does acknowledge Fremy romantically.

Edit; i do appreciate Rebecca's dedication in writing light novel reviews like this; seems she's the only one who cares about them at all on this site, lol.

Whoops, yes, I did mean that he seemed to put the romance on hold during this volume, not that it was never explicitly acknowledged within the two books thus far. Embarassed Poor phrasing on my part.

I interpreted Tgerneu's instruction as spoiler[being to the fiends working around the seventh, but I see what you're saying. Either way, it makes for an interesting story!]

I'm glad you're enjoying the light novel reviews! I think it's less that I'm the only one who cares and more that I'm the fastest and most constant reader - reading is always a large part of my day and I can read an LN in a couple of hours. Very Happy
