There would consistency if Funi licensed this. However, due to the amount of money Netflix for Anime Strike might offer the Japanese licensors, don't be surprised if it winds up there.

First they surprise us by announcing it two months or so before it premieres, and now they surprise us that it is the new Garo. Hopefully it is better than Crimson Moon, as I like the first anime.

What? Whaaaat? But... but this changes everything!
It's been awhile since I last followed the franchise. But I guess this one will be like the Dogai Ryuuga one, I guess. |

OK I have not seen Garo, but from the clips I've watched it seems to be set in a medival fantasy world. How is this connected?

Garo was a live action tokusatsu (see: Ultraman/Kamen Rider)(although it's pretty cg heavy so I'm not sure if that's the right thing to call it) modern day urban fantasy originally, the two animated series we've had so far were essentially far off prequels |

Oh, Garo pulled a Dio Brando on us here. Here I thought we were getting some interesting new anime called Vanishing Point instead it's part of the Garo series.

Can I watch this without prior knowledge about the Garo franchise? Because it was on my watch list even before it was revealed as a Garo anime, but now I'm not so sure...

Messes with the cannon even more actually, since the third live-action Garo series also takes place in the future. I wonder where this fits in the timeline? Not sure where I stand on this one. I love Garo, but I was hoping for something completely new. Too many series attached to other stuff these days. Last edited by v1cious on Fri Sep 08, 2017 7:17 am; edited 3 times in total |

In all honesty I think CR might end up acquiring this and then sublicense the dub and home video rights to Funi. This is a TV Tokyo show. |

Do we need priir knowledge of the life action as well?? Or is watching the prequel anime enough?

Not at all. You should watch them because they're good, but they're not necessary. Last edited by v1cious on Fri Sep 08, 2017 2:28 pm; edited 1 time in total |
