Finally, someone other than myself that actually likes the music! I haven't met a single person in life or online that's had anything good to say about Matsuo's soundtrack. Not to dismiss Ishii at all, since I agree his style has much more ambiance. But for what it's worth, I feel Matsuo's style is still good enough for the coolness and culture that is Hellsing.
And big ups on mentioning Nakata and Wakimoto. Personally, I feel you can't go wrong with either preferred language here, but I think it's rare that many of the reviews by anyone (since I've been on the site) ever mention the seiyuu by name. It's nice to see the original voices getting credit for helping the ADR directors contribute to such a great dubbing effort.
In the end, it's just a shame Geneon of America is going on hiatus and that we won't be seeing a domestic release of future volumes. I'm sure within the next year or so when they get things hammered out, we'll eventually see them from some company or other.
I plan on taking pics of the LE set and posting a mini-review with screencaps in my Hellsing Ultimate thread.. probably.. sometime next week (got a lot of reading for school and work at my job coming up). So for those interested, feel free to keep a lookout.

On the bright side, when they do begin being released again they will be several volumes ahead in Japan, meaning we might see them released here with less wait between volumes.

Dude the music in Hellsing Ultimate has always been great, I don't know what you're talking about Tony I'm a bit disappointed that Geneon USA is having the problems that they're having, which indeed can affect how the releasing of the R1 DVD's come about. I am worried for the future of the next release and so forth, but hopefully something will come of it and somebody for sure will be taking it on.

It's been a long time since I saw Hellsing so I've long forgotten the music aside from the opening. From the two episodes of the OVA that I've seen, I'm pretty neutral on the music. I don't recall anything about it which means it was neither bad nor particularly good. It was just there. And I'm fine with that.
My copy of the volume three should arrive soon, possibly today. I look forward to the carnage.

I will also chime in on the music issue. I really like both BGMs for Hellsing. While on the topic of music did anybody else recognize the song being sung at the very end of the episode? The answer is it is Tough Boy from Hokuto no Ken 2! I find it funny how it is such a big part of Japanese culture, yet is fairly obscure in the States. Gantz also mentions Ken on a few occasions.

Funny you should put it that way... I watched this with my boyfriend last week, and he literally cackled the whole way through. He also stated that he hopes Geneon sorts their stuff out quickly, because he's looking very much forward to the episode that matches manga 7- something about a plane or helicopter going over London? I don't know, he was hard to understand through the cackling.

You referring to the scene where Alucard:
Crashes a Blackbird Stealth Fighter onto a carrier, then savagely devours Rip Van Winkle?
Absolutely legendary.
But, I really do have to agree with the majority of the reviews. One thing I could complain about though...are the extra features on the Limited Edition. =_= Feels like they trying to find as much random, uninteresting stuff to squeeze on an extra disc. But, I guess the awesome Anderson figurine thingy and steelbook case make up for it!

The only problems with the OVA I have are the lack of the brilliant BGM from the TV series and the same problem I have with all things Hellsing - Alucard is a bit too much of a god-mod. I'd like to see him struggle just a little. Then again, it's not like Alucard would let on if he was having trouble.

Actually that was volume 5, so it's pretty close (only two years or so).

Alucard does have some difficulty in later volumes, especially in volumes 8 and 9 when he's fighting Anderson after he's used the Nail of Helena. Alucard nearly dies there and I think he also has a hard time fighting Walter, but I haven't seen the scantalations for it so I'm not sure.

>:3 Actually, alot closer than you think:
Thats the upcoming Volume IV cover, and I could only ponder as to who that little lady is.
Also, according to Wild Geese, due to delays, the original 57 minute runtime of Volume IV will be AT LEAST extended by 8 minutes, and thats just in crazy speech from the pudgy Major.
Even more hell will break loose in the next volume. >:3

I want to hope for it, but I just don't now if I should get my hopes up. Because Rip van Winkle does make her appearance in volume 4 when she hijakes the aircraft carrier. That alone is an awesome scene, but she doesn't fight Alucard until volume 5. Then again, Alucard didn't conclude his fight with the Dandy until volume 4 of the manga, but they incorporated all of it into OVA 3 nonetheless. I guess the best we can do is hope for the entire fight in OVA 4.

OVA IV will prolly end when Walter meets up with The Captain again. That, or when Alucard reveals his ghost ship.
[EDIT: Got rid off all the excessive quoting. -TK]

I don't really pay attention to the music, just the excessive amounts of gore.

The AX panel was for volume 2's release so, it did feel odd on volume 3, although I suppose it couldn't be helped considering the release dates. I really enjoyed Crispin's interview on volume 1, since he has such a great screen presence (I love the Haruhi Interview) and comes across as very intelligent (I love the recent Eureka 7 interview) on many extras.

Ultimate SEries 3 is currently my favourite out of all the Hellsing OVA. The only thing I really wanted was 5-10 more minutes of action between Alucard and Alhambra; and it's mainly because I wanted to see more of Alhambra's crazy card powers. It felt like the duel was only 2 minutes long before Alucard kills him. As for the rest of the violent scenes, I'm used to the graphic violence, but I'm not used to the disturbing elevator scene, particularly the one soldier who was manipulated and kept pressing the 'open door' button
I hope OVA 4 comes sooner to North America, 'cause I'm dying to see who will be Alucard's next unfortunate victim to squeal like a pig bwahahaha!
