REVIEW: Hellsing Ultimate DVD 3

In the end, it's just a shame Geneon of America is going on hiatus and that we won't be seeing a domestic release of future volumes. I'm sure within the next year or so when they get things hammered out, we'll eventually see them from some company or other.

You can almost hear Hirano cackling in juvenile glee as he packs his tale of extreme violence and supernatural vampire battles with military fetishism, apocrypha, cheerful blasphemy and Nazis. For those that cackle right along with him this will be a little slice of heaven—or hell, if you prefer.

Funny you should put it that way... I watched this with my boyfriend last week, and he literally cackled the whole way through. He also stated that he hopes Geneon sorts their stuff out quickly, because he's looking very much forward to the episode that matches manga 7- something about a plane or helicopter going over London? I don't know, he was hard to understand through the cackling.

You referring to the scene where Alucard:

Absolutely legendary.

The only problems with the OVA I have are the lack of the brilliant BGM from the TV series and the same problem I have with all things Hellsing - Alucard is a bit too much of a god-mod. I'd like to see him struggle just a little. Then again, it's not like Alucard would let on if he was having trouble.

Actually that was volume 5, so it's pretty close (only two years or so).

Finally, someone other than myself that actually likes the music! I haven't met a single person in life or online that's had anything good to say about Matsuo's soundtrack. Not to dismiss Ishii at all, since I agree his style has much more ambiance. But for what it's worth, I feel Matsuo's style is still good enough for the coolness and culture that is Hellsing.

And big ups on mentioning Nakata and Wakimoto. Personally, I feel you can't go wrong with either preferred language here, but I think it's rare that many of the reviews by anyone (since I've been on the site) ever mention the seiyuu by name. It's nice to see the original voices getting credit for helping the ADR directors contribute to such a great dubbing effort.

I plan on taking pics of the LE set and posting a mini-review with screencaps in my Hellsing Ultimate thread.. probably.. sometime next week (got a lot of reading for school and work at my job coming up). So for those interested, feel free to keep a lookout.

One thing I could complain about though...are the extra features on the Limited Edition. =_= Feels like they trying to find as much random, uninteresting stuff to squeeze on an extra disc.
