Oh good, lets just hope Oshii doesn't insult the genre again like he did in MiniPato.

Please go to a series, a short just isn't enough if they're calling it a reboot. Most of this Animator Expo stuff barely interests me because none of it goes to series.

Yasuhiro Yoshiura is directing something Patlabor related. This is something I never knew I wanted, but I definitely really like it.

Aw, man! I was hoping for a full rebooted series!
I just started re-watching the original and it could use an upgrade.

This is looking pretty good... too bad it's a short only.
Would be interesting to see Patlabor completely redone as a regular TV series

I guess it's better than nothing. It's so hard to get a decent mecha thing nowadays that isn't Gundam or Macross though.

As much as it may be disappointing for the original characters to be replaced, the choice of Kawai as the composer will ensure that some of the original series' flair is retained. The clip's combination of energetic strings and tambourine-heavy percussion certainly sounds distinctively familiar.

A short is too short. I want another series.

I think what you meant to say was it is hard to see a mecha show now that isn't Gundam or Macross. The genre has been in decline since the 90s after all. They should really make another Super Robot Wars Anime.

There were at least half a dozen in 2015:
Fafner
Aldnoah.Zero
Transformers Q (if you count Transformers, some people don't)
Knights of Sidonia
Aquarion
Heavy Object
Comet Lucifer
Obviously nowhere near the glory days of the 90s, but it's not like the genre has died out. It's still here, still making money.

No Furukawa? No Sakakibara? No Chiba? Pfft.
Oh well, it's a short, maybe I'll give it a shot. But Oshii should do another movie. Not a live-action one, though.

No Noa. . .? Or anyone? I don't know if I'm really interested in it, even with Megumi Hayashibara in it.

Oshii isn't involved in this short. If he were, I bet Kazunori Ito wouldn't be co-writing it, since they reportedly had a falling-out during the production of Avalon.

I'm more excited about Patlabor reboot.
I wished it wasn't such a short anime air time per episodes.

This. This is an excellent staff for a reboot, wish they were doing a full series not just a short.

I agree, one of my favorite composers.

This. I'd really like some new Noa-based Patlabor.
