I guess this will never appear in English. Too bad! I'm trying hard to learn Japanese history, but there's a lot of it, and a lot of names I have trouble remembering, AND the feudal setting of so much of it seems hard to understand.
A manga of all that history would be a great help.

This is a really cool project. Someone should try and crowfund this. Actually a company called JR Comics started a project a few years back trying to get Chinese comics some exposure in the West. Many of the titles they've covered are based on many of the historical works. So far they've Monkey King, Outlaws of the Marsh (also known as the Water Margin, or the 108 outlaws), Three Kingdoms, etc... Each title runs about 20 books at 178 pgs (a thin 178) $10 a pop. That roughly translates to $200. Stuff like this needs more exposure. You're getting good art and some history.

This sounds like an interesting manga. I hope someone does something in a similar vein called "Learning American History Through Manga." I think that would be interesting to do. What does everyone else think of that idea?

Many American universities do offer Japanese history courses. However, I think a lot of Japanese universities might not offer American history. I think this would be cool if they did these volumes for American history.

Well,Kadmos1. It doesn't have to be done by the Japanese themselves. I think it could be done in manga-style by Americans. If there were Japanese manga artists who'd be interested in helping out with a project like this,I,for one, would welcome them on. It could be a joint project between both Japanese and American artists or it could be done with Americans alone. I have no problems with it being done either way.
