Am more disappointed that The Leftovers was snubbed. That season was by far some of the best TV I've seen in years.

Sadly anime movies atm lack recognition because most people at the academy has not seen them, if crunchy+funni+netflix start streaming them on a timely manner, then more people would support their nomination.

No. Academy Awards are much worse.
I remember when The Wind Rises was nominated for Best Animated Feature and it lost to Frozen just because all the judges didn't really bother watching any of the films, except Frozen, and assumed all animated films are for children. That is not entirely true.

Not to be cold, but I don't need a statue to tell me how remarkable a media form is. Televised and packaged with pageantry and personalities I don't care about? Nah. I think we have evolved beyond that spectrum of consumption. For esteem and acclaim? It may look nice on paper, but that is it.
Edit: But not to deny anyone else, I guess. Sorry. I have a parent who worked in television precisely with this type of thing. I freely admit I am heavily biased.

TBT, neither do I, but lots of people do need or like to hear the opinion of people paid to talk about how good or bad some movies (or series), look no further than ANN reviews. So while it has been years since I last saw the oscars (and never cared enough for other awards), it would be nice for said yearly affairs to acknowledge anime as a media that produces top notch material on a frequent basis.

The point of the Golden Globes is just to circle jerk each other.

I'm just happy Shaun the Sheep got nominated. Bodes well for an Oscar nomination (even if Inside Out is the all-but-predetermined winner).

I never watch these shows nor care about the results, so this isn't really news to me.

That's not how it worked. Those were the opinions of only 7 voters out of hundreds/thousands, and most of those abstained.
